Am I ovulating early? CD8 - EWCM, Ovulation cramps, and flashing smiley opk

So after 3 months TTC aged 38 I'm determined not to miss the window this month and got advanced digital CB OPKs... I know they have their issues but I used them for my last pregnancy when I got my BFP 1st month. However...

The instructions said to test on CD8 for a 28 day cycle which I am... I tested this morning CD8 and got a blank circle... As to be expected. Then at lunchtime I started having EWCM which continued all day, followed by cramps on one side...
Then tonight I did another OPK and got a flashing smiley... All signs lead to ovulation! Early! However after my initial excitement I realised actually if I ovulate now chances of actually getting pregnant and it sticking are slim as lining hasn't had enough time to thicken and egg might not be fully matured etc etc. so I'm feeling pretty down about it.

My question is, how long do you actually ovulate after these signals from body and flashing opk? Is there a chance I could ovulate around CD13/14 - or is it pretty imminent? Any knowledge or experience on the matter greatly welcomed to help me fully understand my chances!

Thank you!

From what I've read on here women have said sometimes your body can gear up to ovulation early but fail and tries again a little while later so you may ovulate again when you usually do

Everyone is different but I ovulate 24 to 36 hours after my LH surge and getting a solid smiley. I know this as I feel cramps associated with ovulation.

so if i tested and got a solid smiley at 7am on a Wednesday then chances are I’d ovulate midnight to 7am Thursday bearing in mind my LH surge started (guessing) at 1am wed morning. At the latest it can be 48 hours after smiley and earliest 12 hours.
so the earliest ovulation would be 1pm wed and latest Friday 1am
this is all an example

This is really useful thank you - i had another flashing smiley today so mustn't have peaked yet - I guess I'm a little confused as my body is showing me the signs of ov by cramping on one side very strongly and EWCM... So wondering if that means I'll ovulate in 12-36 hours from now, though I guess id be better informed by the peak solid smiley on the ov test. Just hoping my body stretches it out a little longer!

Thank you

I would always peak in the cb tests earlier than the cheap strips, so it’d probably be 2-3 days after a solid smiley before I actually ovulated! I would also have 5+ of ewcm and flashing smileys so you might have a few days yet xx

This is SUPER HELPFUL!
I got peak static smiley face today... Cramps have stopped and not so much EWCM... So we dtd today, yesterday and will for the next few days and hopefully this will be our month!
Hopefully it's either happened last couple of days or is about to!
Not so worried about being early now as it's all prevailed to probably be only one day early so cd13.
Thanks everyone for the knowledge! X

The month we conceived DS I had flashing smiley AND solid smiley on Day 7 or 8. I was upset thinking I was ovulating early but then I got a second peak on day 15 and that's when we conceived! I've used the clearblue fertility monitor and sometimes I have 10 "high" days before I actually ovulate. I would keep testing and see what happens. :)

Hi Ladies,
Ive got a static smile today on my clear blue but my cheapie says 0.27 I’ve also input my clear blue to my pre mom app and it says 0.47…

Should we DTD today or am I not yet ovulating? I’ve had a little bit of ewcm this week but not loads (usually get quite a bit). I’m CD19 which is late for me, I’m usually 16-18 but this is our first month TTC so I think I’ve been over thinking it and maybe caused the delay due to stress etc.

Any advice welcome 🙂
