Late Period & BFN

Hi all,

Aunt Flo is 8 days late and I am still getting BFN on pregnancy tests. Spoke to the doc yesterday and she said it could be a missed period, could be my body trying and failing to get pregnant and could also be it's too early.

Didn't track ovulation this month but DTD on the normally "right" days. Wondering if anyone else had this? It's messing with my head atm!

TIA. 🩷

Hi, sorry you’re going through this.
I had the same last month and AF did finally arrive. I think mine was because of a previous MC messing my cycles up a bit.
good luck though

Why do doctors talk about "missed" or "skipped" periods?! 🤯 And a female doctor at that!!

If you're not pregnant it means either you've not ovulated or ovulated late (so your period's not actually due yet, despite being outside the app prediction or your norm). There's no such thing as a "skipped" period.

Try taking BBT and OPKs if you don't already to get some kind of idea what your cycle's doing. Good luck!

Thank you for your kind words.
So frustrating! I wish I could just forget about it but hey go, hopefully I'll get somewhere in the next couple of weeks!

Yes I’ve had this a few times over the years of ttc! Stress can be a cause of it. A couple of times my cycle lasted 60 days with no rhyme or reason for it!! Apart from those times I have a period every 28 days without fail.

I second what PP said, there's no late period, only late ovulation !
So you might have ovulated later as the length of your luteal phase (the phase after ovulation leading to period) never changes !

This is really interesting. Thank you for this! It could be that ovulation was a week later in which we did DTD again. So fingers crossed something stuck but we'll try again if not.
Thank you! 🩷
