Anyone have experience doing IVF privately while waiting for NHS?

We have been TTC for six months and I'm almost 38 while my partner is almost 42 (this is our first time TTC and we would ideally like two kids!). We just got referred to IVF by my GP - our tests were mostly fine except my partner having low morphology. The first consultation is in 3 months and I guess it will likely be at least another three months til we go ahead with IVF (and even that might be optimistic? We're at Guy's and St Thomas). So we're feeling really anxious and thinking of doing a round of private while we wait, even though it's extremely pricey. I checked and our ICB (Southeast London) allows it.

Does anyone have experience or advice with this?

My son was conceived in the IVF clinic at Guy’s. We were too old to be NHS eligible (I was 41). Worked second round. It wasn’t crazy expensive as I recall. It’s a bit of a production line (I never saw the same person twice), but everyone very efficient and pleasant.

That's very promising to know, thank you!
