Can failed implantation be painful?

Good afternoon all,
My partner and I are heading into month 9 of ttc. I honestly assumed it would have happened by now so getting very disheartened. This month I had a very blunt stabbing pain on my right side which stopped 2 days before my period came. Never experienced this before. Could this have been an attempted but failed implantation?
Thanks for your thoughts on this! :)

Possibly! With my first pregnancy I had sharp stabbing pain one evening which I’m sure was implantation.
Then with recently TTC I had the same sharp pain last month, but then still had my period at the normal time. It was the exact same feeling as implantation with my first and I’ve never felt a feeling like that any other time so I feel like it was implantation both times. One successfully and one not.

How interesting! This gives me hope that my tubes are open and I may actually be conceiving but just not had successful implantation yet. Really was hoping it to be this month but have my fingers crossed for the next.
