Hi fellow mumsnetters who are TTC with Letrozole. I had a successful pregnancy 2.5 years ago, got pregnant on cycle 3 on 5mg. A healthy baby boy was born who is now 20 months old.

Now trying again and this is my first cycle on 5 mg. I have PCOS very irregular periods - once every 2-3 years. Anyone else TTC with Letrozole or Clomid now, let’s connect and support each other. Very interested to hear about others journey xx

Hiya!

i was on my first round of letrozole as I also have pcos. This was for baby 2.
i took 5mg of letrozole and trigger shot and after ovulation i was told to take progesterone twice a day!
i am now 14dpo and have a positive test but im stressing as my pregnancy tests are so light. I got a positive on 11dpo it was so so faint and got ever so slightly darker. This morning my easy at home was soo light.
i did take a first response yesterday which was much better but just cant stop worrying about it. I always see videos online of such dark line progressions from like 8/9dpo onwards and mine is so light 😩

Thats great news, congratulations ❤️don’t worry about the colour of the line. Mine was very light until 20 dpo, only then they were dark as you would expect. And healthy pregnancy followed. So exciting first round and you got your BFP. I just took my last pill today for this cycle and praying it will help first round. Keep me posted xx

Okay thats so reassuring thank you!! I was really getting upset today thinking this it… i watched so many videos 😂
do you take a trigger shot with your letrozole or is it just that?

Mary182 · 08/12/2024 19:06

I have also told myself as long as theres a line im pregnant. Until I start bleeding i dont need to worry myself.

mirrormirror5 · 08/12/2024 20:01

Just on this chat as I'm also TTC with PCOS but I haven't heard of these drugs - should I speak to my doctor again?

I have irregular periods and have been put on metformin, I'm not having one every 6 weeks but would it help to have these also?

I've been trying to use ovulations sticks but haven't caught a positive one yet

I didn’t need a trigger short. Ovulation happened each time just with Letrozole x

Hey,
so that was the same for me. But i told the gp to refer me to a fertility specialist, the gp ran all the blood tests and gave me metformin which didnt do much tbh. Unfortunately i didn’t qualify for nhs fertility treatment as I had a child already and i needed to reach a certain BMI. I did this round of ovulation induction privately.

Hi 😀
I was on Metformin years ago, it didn’t even help to get my period. So I said ‘no’ to it after a year. Letrozole really helped me, it’s a shame I didn’t get it sooner and wasted years TTC unsuccessfully. Letrozole is a medication used in treatment of patients with a certain type breast cancers, but it’s also used off-label to treat infertility in PCOS. It blocks the estrogen receptors. Lower estrogen levels trick the brain into thinking estrogen is too low, prompting the pituitary gland to release more follicle stimulating hormone( FSH). FSH stimulates the ovaries to develop follicles, which contain eggs.
I hope it will work this time too. I also lost a lot of weight since August and my BMI is 22.3 now. I was BMI 29 before that. The weight loss helped to get my period back although it’s not regular but at least it came naturally.

Same for me, I don’t qualify for NHS treatment because I have a child already. Have a private doctor now who recommended to lose weight too. I cut on carbs heavily and it helped me with a lot of issues like all the hair I had where I should not have them(breast, a bit on face just random ones, on tummy) all has gone now, and skin improved and digestion. Plus I look and feel so healthy, and my chronic headaches have disappeared too.

This is so helpful! I actually did see a private fertility practitioner via Bupa and she put me on metformin.
I'm thinking I might go back and asked about clomid and letrozole if you really recommend them?
I'm very fortunate that I can work PT and go to the gym quite a bit so my BMI is 24. Otherwise I could easily gain a lot of weight.

BusyJadeBiscuit · 13/03/2025 16:04

@JohnnysMama did it work for you?

BDismakingmeexhausted · 25/03/2025 23:27

@JohnnysMama so lovely to hear your success story! I wanted to ask until you got your BFP, did you get any symptoms after your DPO at all? I am on CD 20 (1st cycle 7.5mg) and did a trigger on CD 15 but since then i am not feeling any symptoms nor did I get any ovulation symptoms which is worrying as I did have 2 dominant follicles on CD 10 but maybe I’m just over thinking as usual! Did you do monitoring while on Letrozole? I have been using ovulation strips and I did get peaks on days 15/16 but then I have heard it can be false positives once having a trigger shot.

JohnnysMama · 25/03/2025 23:31

Didn’t work yet, cycle 4 on Letrozole 5mg

I had some symptoms: tiredness, headaches every day, then indigestion came and light spotting.

Thanks for replying. How soon did the symptoms kick in? Sending baby dust to you for this cycle. Are you doing a monitored cycle ?

@JohnnysMama hey hope your well. Wondered if u had any updates 🩷 my cycle 1 was unsuccessful so I’m on round 2 now currently on CD 12 still taking 7.5. My period has regulated since being on letrozole which is a positive but I hope the second or third time may be the charm.
