Ovulation and TTC after miscarriage

Hi everyone, I had a MMC at the end November - managed with a MVA. I’m now 10 days down the line, bleeding settled over 8 days ago. I have no idea when I’m due to ovulate (test strips unreliable as pregnancy test still very mildly positive). For anyone who’s had a MC at 10 weeks, how long did it take you to ovulate again and when did you start TTC again? Positive stories welcome as feeling a bit down today.

So sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage of fraternal twins at 8 weeks, they wouldn’t come away themselves so had the the tablets (they didn’t work) and ended up having surgery at 10 weeks. It was really awful, I really sympathise with you. My pregnancy tests were negative a week after my surgery. I ovulated 2 weeks later and had a period two weeks later. The next cycle I conceived identical twins, what are the chances. I have read you are often more fertile after a miscarriage, it was definitely true for me. Of course take it at our own pace but our bodies are amazing and bounce back pretty quick.

Hello,
Sorry for your loss.... I'd be interested to follow this too... I'm around 12 days post medical MMC. Bleeding has pretty much all stopped, bar a tiny bit on wiping sometimes. Pregnancy tests still show a line though 😢 this waiting is so hard. I'm worried about retained tissue. Desperate to try again.

@PIXI90 thanks so much for sharing.

@CustardCream31 so sorry for your loss. Hope you’re ok and get that negative pregnancy test soon. Mine is still positive this morning ☹️

Hello, sorry for your loss. Everyone is different, sometimes it's a quick recovery and sometimes it takes longer. I had a MC at 6 weeks in January and ovulated 16 days later. I fell pregnant from that cycle and then had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks.

It took 7 weeks for my pregnancy tests to turn completely negative. I had a bleed, didn't ovulate, then bleed again 17 days after that bleed started. I ovulated around 9 days after that second bleed. I only know this because I had a HUGE amount of EWCM, which is very unusual for me, and I felt weird 10 days later. I got a positive pregnancy test on day 18 of that cycle.

Sadly, we lost our little boy at 19 weeks into September, but my period returned 28 days exactly after I gave birth to him. It took longer to recover from the D&C, ovulation-wise.

How are you doing today? Line any fainter for you?
I didn't test this morning (positive yesterday though...), but noticed yesterday afternoon I was getting EWCM, and also today... seems odd?!

Gosh you've had a rubbish ride of it all then Sad sorry to hear.... sounds like you ovulated quite quickly after then. Wonder if my body is trying to, too... but still getting positive line on PT!

@CustardCream31 ooh maybe you’re ovulating then esp if nearly two weeks after MC? My pregnancy test still positive but I’m going to ignore for a week (if I can!) and test again when I’m three weeks post MC

Hope you're doing ok today. It feels odd/horrible to want a negative test, doesn't it - especially after wanting a positive test before!!
I finally tested negative yesterday for the first time - pretty much bang on 2 weeks since the event.
Hoping you get your negative soon so you can move forward Flowers

BGxxx · 09/12/2024 09:10

I had medical management for my mmc, it took pretty much a month to test negative. The test only went completely blank after I bled again! I had a chemical pregnancy and a normal cycle inbetween and then I fell pregnant again. It definitely messed up my cycles though as I ovulated later than usual

Hey ladies, I’m sorry for your losses and that we are having to all ask/post on this forum in this situation.

I had an MVA on 7th Jan, spotting for 5 days after but no real bleeding. 7 days after I passed a few clots and had some bleeding, been on and off since. I did a test this morning 10 days post surgery and it’s still very positive, I expected positive but not blaring (still equal to test line). I just wondered whether your tests had started to decline in colour? I was using the early detection ones so should maybe try the normal threshold but it’s just got me worried about retained products as I am due to do my test 3 weeks later which is 11 days time, but with no change as such in 10 days it’s worrying me how it can change so drastically over this time.

Running4pizza · 19/01/2025 22:09

@KT199 im so sorry for your loss. I’ve just had a look back at my tests and it took a week and a half for mine to start to fade. Have yours started to fade at all? I’d try a normal pregnancy test rather than early detector one. Mine was still positive after three weeks and my MAU didn’t seem interested and just said it was common and to wait another week but I’d say if you have any doubts do give yours a call! 💙

Mine took absolutely ages, by the 3 weeks I still had a faint line, it didn’t go to completely negative until my next period at 4 weeks. I was using easy at home tests! Hopefully it will start to fade soon xx
