Hi all

I am ttc, this will be my fourth cycle. I have been taking Vit D, Folic acid, high strength iron, vit b12 and omega 3 fish oil. I have been ovulating each month around CD22 which is very late for me with no luck in conceiving. This month I have been really poorly, had a week of antibiotics and was hitting the cough syrup hard. I didn’t keep up with my supplements and tbh was not religiously testing with opks just because of how rubbish I felt. I did not get a positive OPK this month (only started testing cd16) but thought I felt some kind of cramping around CD21 (might have been imagining it) but no way was it as strong as my normal one sided pain that I get. I then started bleeding at CD27 had a very light 3/4 day bleed, 6 days after my apparent ovulation.
I have no idea what’s going on? Did I not ovulate this month? Did me not taking my supplements mean that I ovulated earlier? Did it have something to do with my antibiotics? I have not taken my supplements so far this cycle(just folic acid vit d pill), I’m on CD 5 now and have just ordered the clear blue digital OPK test. Has anyone got any experiences like this?

Hi @PIXI90, I don't have any answers for you, sorry, just some solidarity.

I changed my vitamin regime a month ago and have gone from having 27 day cycles to 31 day cycles. It's very frustrating. I am still ovulating, but the only reason I know that is because I had a scan of my uterus a few months ago after the loss of our baby boy, and the notes detailed a corpus luteum on my right ovary. It confirmed ovulation had taken place already just 3 weeks after birth. I wasn't taking any supplements at the time as I was still reeling from giving birth too early.

I started taking them just after that first period as we think we will try again after a few cycles and, yeah, cycle went from 27 days to 31. I can't say for 100% certainty that it's the vitamins, but before I got pregnant, my cycles were on the shorter side (25 - 28 days maximum) and I was only taking one pre-natal vitamin back then.

@KittyFantastica i am so sorry to hear of the loss of your baby boy, I lost twins at 9 weeks and albeit it being early it really did shatter our world. I think you are right, I think it might be the supplements and I think I probably ovulated day 13/14 this month due to not taking them. I also heard that mucus cough syrup can bring ovulation on early and I was drinking that by the gallon. Fresh start this month and no illness so hopefully nothing to interfere with ov. Thank you for sharing your experience with me, sending lots of love, strength and babydust to you on your ttc journey.
