Affordable Pregnancy Test Recommendations Please

Hi, Just looking for any recommendations for affordable pregnancy tests please that you have found reliable? Or ones to avoid? I get that it’s largely personal preference but they are so spendy! I bought cheap Superdrug one then found out that a lot of people seem to think they are not very reliable. I’m working on the assumption that this is going to be a long journey and that there might be some low points with moments of over testing - I don’t want to throw money down the toilet by buying something notoriously unreliable or buying overpriced sticks for a brand name that’s not actually any better. Many thanks in advance for any advice and helpful experiences💕

I bulk bought on Amazon when TTC they were in pink packets. I also bought the cheap home bargains ones. Had no problems with either. Good luck

I use Wondfo and then double check with a frer (bought on Amazon) when I've had suspected positives so I know before I get excited!

Avoid ClearBlue as they are awful for evap lines, I used the “Easy At Home” ones and had no issues! X

The little strip ones.
Got mine from Poundland 😂.
Seriously, they were always right.
Decided to get them as they are the same type of ones that were used when I had a pregnancy text at my GPs

I used branded ones but these were also always right for me too, when negative.

Thank you so much everyone, this is so helpful. Can I just doublecheck - when you say bad for evap lines do you mean it’s common to get faint lines on them when negative? If so my poor brain is defo going to want avoid that! Are any really bad for false positives?

Yeah they can look like positives but they're not which is heartbreaking.

After two lots of 12 month TTC journeys (first is now 6!) my advice would be..

  • pee in a cup and then dip. That way if something goes wrong you've got more pee!
  • test first thing in the morning with FMU (first morning urine) and mid stream if possible
  • 'pink dye' tests are more reliable than 'blue'
  • they come in different levels of sensitivity - FRER (first response early result) are the most sensitive at 10 nmol. That's how concentrated the hCG needs to be in your urine before it can be detected
  • only read the results when they say to - outside the 'window' it's a lot less reliable
  • if you love POAS (peeing on a stick) do it with cheap ones or you'll bankrupt yourself!

I liked the cheap Easy @ Home ones this time. Bulk bought them on Amazon along with OPK strips. They were really quite sensitive (I got a faint positive at 7DPO) so was able to test quite early and use them daily until the result was clear. I used a FRER to confirm the result after a few days but a bit pricier so wouldn't use them day in day out.

Thank you, that makes sense🌻

I like to think I won’t become someone who loves POAS 🤔😂
