Hello,
Unfortunately when I gave birth in May my baby boy Oscar was stillborn at 36 weeks, via emergency C section
I would love to ttc soon but have heard mixed opinions on when I can, more recently being the consultant said 2 years birth to birth…I could cry at the thought of waiting this long! What are some of your opinions/experiences?
TIA xx

I'm so sorry for your loss 🫂 I had a section with my daughter and my understanding is that as long as there is 12 months between births you'll be okay.

Wishing you all the best with any future pregnancies x

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you're going through and just want to start by sending you love and strength.

Not similar to your experience at all, but I had an emergency c section 4 months ago and due to a complicated fertility journey was concerned about the prospect of having to wait a long time to TTC again. I was attending a consultant who is honestly one of the best in the business. I am a midwife and have met and worked with many good and bad, and can honestly say I would trust this woman with my life. And she told me that any advice about waiting a certain time to conceive post c section is NOT evidence based. They say it out of an abundance of caution but really it has no solid research behind it. She told me to get pregnant again whenever I want to. So that's the advice I'm following. I of course don't know the ins and outs of your history so I'm not sure if there's anything else that would make your risk different.

I'd say go for it whenever you're feeling mentally and physically ready. Oscar will be close by to his lovely Mummy every step of the way x

Sorry to hear about your beautiful son Oscar. 13 months here and had two c sections. But you will know when you feel heeled I think. Sorry you lost him 💐

Im so sorry for your loss. My twin son was stillborn last November and his identical twin passed 4 days later in NICU. I feel your pain. My consultant due to my high risk twins was one of the top in the country, he said no need to wait 2 years. 6 months the recommendation obviously taking into account your recovery and how it is going.

I had an emergency section with my late twins but I did start trying again after 3 months. In hindsight although I was physically recovered im not sure I was mentally. As you know the grief comes in terrible waves. As it happens I got pregnant 8 months later and I'm now 18 weeks. Definitely check with your obestrician because your scar needs to be fully healed and no harm getting a scan to see all looks good in there too. My heart goes out to you. I'm a year on this journey and it's so hard xxx feel free to pm me.

Just wanted to add, I've no regrets trying early again, I just was so swamped in grief losing my sons but as I said my consultant said go for it and I trust him with my life.

I hope you are able to talk to someone. It's a lonely place and unless they've experienced it, many don't understand the extreme shock and pain in losing your child but also the desire to have that baby in your arms again. And ttc is so hard after that xxxx stay strong and as I said feel free to reach out

I am so sorry to hear about your beautiful boy Oscar.

I would perhaps get a second opinion as a lot of the medical advice will be based on your individual circumstances. I had a section in May this year and due to my age we would like to have another soon. I asked the doctor when I could start trying again and was told based on my own factors it would be ok if I got pregnant 6 months post section. So based on that we started trying but unfortunately I got my period today so not successful this month.

However, although my daughter is now 6 months I think this cycle might actually be the first “normal” one I’ve had since my section so theres that to take in to consideration too. I had a really long 35 day cycle, a 25 day cycle then a 24 day cycle so something must have been sorting itself out with hormones. I’m going to track ovulation this month and not think too much about TTC just to make sure that things have returned to normal for me.

I really hope you have success soon x
