Help! DH has very low motility

My DH and I have been TTC for about a year now with no luck. I was positive that I was the issue and have had lots of tests come back negative and all clear, as we have been TTC for nearly a year he went to his doctor for further tests.

He had a semen analysis done and it has come back with very low motility ( 2 % ). He's very healthy and exercises lots. His sperm count is perfectly high so the motility seems to be the issue. Has anyone experienced similar? What did you do? Can we get pregnant without further intervention? We are waiting on an appointment with the fertility unit in the meantime but I wanted to get some advice and hear from anyone that's gone through this as I'm losing my marbles over what to do.

Whack him on Impryl or Proxeed (but not both)

Thanks for the suggestion, he started on well man conception, do you think thats good enough? We are so confused by the results and will be requesting repeats in a few weeks

Hi @Leafysunshine I have just found your thread after searching about motility. I hope you don't mind me asking, but how did you get on with the motility? Did you find it increased? what did you/your partner do to increase?

Hi @2Sugars2 most recent update with my DH is that he was referred to a urologist who found a moderate one sided varicocele and slightly low testosterone. The urologist determined that the varicocele was the cause of the infertility as he's had it since he was very young but wasn't aware of the risks. He was then given surgery (a varicocele embolization) and we are currently awaiting the minimum 3 months wait before another SA to see the effect of the surgery. Apparently it takes 3 months for new sperm to come through in a new cycle! We are still waiting on our fertility referral too unfortunately

@2Sugars2 I should also add that DH takes wellman, and an omega complex and vit c as recommended. Doesn't drink and exercises regularly. Also we've thrown out all plastic kitchenware (cups, tupperware etc) in place of glass and ceramic as recommended by the urologist also.

@Leafysunshine thanks so much for getting back to me. Well I guess that is good news that you've an answer for it and treatment rather than the great unknown, I really hope the SA after month 3 gives you great results. Its wild how long this progress takes, so much waiting. We are in a slightly different position to you in that my partner had a vasectomy reversal, so currently researching to see how we can improve results. We are only 9/10 weeks post op though so early days and they do say to give it 3-6 months.... more waiting!! He is currently taking wellman and has been since before the VR.
