BFP after period?

Hoping someone can give me some advice or reassurance! I had a very normal period lasting 4 days. It started 12dpo which if anything is a little late for me. I took a test the day before which was negative. I'm on CD8 (or so I thought) today. I've had cramps since yesterday and today a very small amount of spotting when wiping (sorry if tmi!), so I took an ovulation test in case I had ovulated early. Blazing positive, felt a bit suspicious so took a test - BFP but not as strong as I would expect for 20ish dpo. I took a boots early test as well to confirm - both in photo.

I've been diagnosed with unexplained infertility and had my first baby by IVF after trying naturally for over 3 years. I've never had a natural BFP before. I think that sadly this is not a sticky one, or worst case possibly ectopic. Anyone have any similar experiences to share? I'm going to call the GP tomorrow if cramps or bleeding get worse.

Anybody? No bleeding this morning and cramps have stopped. Currently on hold to GP surgery. I did a digital test which said 1-2weeks, should be 2-3 weeks by now so hope isn't high for a good outcome.

Hi
Sorry, I've not much to add but I didn't want to read & run.
I know someone who continued having normal-like periods all throughout pregnancy. Baby born healthy 🙂

Genuinely wish you all the best 🫶

I had an early MC a couple of years ago. I wasn't TTC so not sure what DPO I would have been. I got a bright pink FRER BFP and squinters on cheapies. I then started bleeding 5 days later. I can't remember how
long the bright FRERs hung around for - certainly for the next 5 or 6 days as it was still a blazing BFP when I went to the EPU to find out what was happening. It took 3 weeks to then get negatives on cheapies.

Get an appointment at your EPU, as whilst it might have been an early miscarriage, equally some women can have quite scary levels of bleeding in pregnancy and all end up ok. Good luck.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks all! Just back from GP, she agrees it's weird but not too concerned about ectopic for now since I'm fine other than intermittent mild cramps and spotting. She wants me to have a blood test next week when I'll be 6 weeks pregnant in theory, and if still positive then off for a scan, unless concerning symptoms develop in the meantime.

I'm not holding out much hope for a viable pregnancy so kind of just want my body to get a move on now...

Good news about the ectopic.

Don't give up all hope just yet - you never know.

I had something similar! BFN followed by 3 days of heavy bleeding, then suddenly a BFP. Mine must have been implantation bleeding as I'm now 10 weeks along. Crossing my fingers for a sticky baby for you 🤞

Just tested again this morning and it's barely positive, so looks like miscarriage. I'm relieved it's not ectopic, and trying to take the positive view that at least it shows my body can get pregnant naturally. Fingers crossed for the next one.
