On the waiting list for first aptm at the clinic in Jan 2025 so hopefully we won't be far behind you!

MissEmily5 · 15/11/2024 18:57

@WanOvaryKenobi Currently on the waiting list- hopefully will get an appointment through for end of January 25!

WanOvaryKenobi · 15/11/2024 19:32

Ah fantastic! We are due to phone to start the antagonist protocol at the end of December, fingers crossed they have space for us then.

Thatslifethatsit · 03/12/2024 18:39

Starting my drugs late December for fet January

lovelivelaugh63 · 08/12/2024 00:37

Hi, what are your protocols like? Are you having a long protocol or short protocol? And what ages are you all?

We are ttc baby number 1 for 30 months however have had no luck and are hopefully starting our ivf treatment start of 2025.

Infertility is horrible, praying for us all 🤍

Eliise · 09/12/2024 10:18

Hi! I'm doing IVF this month, but I think I will know the result in January. I had scan last Friday there were 9 follicles altogether. Egg retrieval on the 12th of the December after that we'll see if there's any embryos. By the way, I'm 46 years old and trying with my own eggs, so I need an miracle here. 🙂

Thatslifethatsit · 09/12/2024 15:29

I’m 38 having fet in Jan - drugs starting in a few weeks have an ivf baby and would like another
Had an embryo from previous rounds and had some more from a recent round so v fortunate but fresh et failed so fet it is
@Eliise 9 follicles sounds promising🤞let us know how 12th December goes age is a factor but isn’t everything you need 1 embryo to stick lots of fertility dust sent your way x

lovelivelaugh63 · 09/12/2024 15:43

@Thatslifethatsit are you on long protocol or short protocol? (With your first ivf baby did you have a long protocol or short)
I have been offered short protocol. But I'm not sure how successful it is.

@Eliise 9 eggs is amazing. Hoping they stick. 🤍 Is it your first ivf cycle?

Thatslifethatsit · 09/12/2024 15:51

@lovelivelaugh63 I’ve always been short protocol as regular periods my biggest problem was not stimulating to the drugs once they got the drug levels up I got average numbers of eggs so from 8 follicles got 7eggs
It’s all about quality - from 9 follicles we got 9 eggs we knew 2 of them were not mature and very fortunate to get 7 mature eggs and then 6 embryos

@lovelivelaugh63 I have amh around 12 which is fairly low but probably ok for my age
I’ve never had loads of eggs
i had 1 round we stopped before egg collection
i has a round we got 2 poor quality eggs
3rd attempt we got our baby and an embryo on ice
4th attempt 6 embryos and failed fresh transfer
they do say high protein low carb diet to help quality - some people have acupuncture
I just go for high protein diet, folic acid, vitamin c and d, co q10 and omega 3,6,9

🤞 for you just follow the process and try to take it easy (easier said than done) you are young and have options are you nhs funded - we were for first child now private and there are so many more choices which I didn’t have with nhs (I’ve not opted for any as quite expensive)

Eliise · 09/12/2024 17:02

@lovelivelaugh63 Yes, that's my first IVF. I have 3 boys, 15, 10 and 8 years old. I had my children naturally although I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries. I was a long wait, but I got them. Then I divorced my marriage and I was sure that I would raise my children alone for the rest of my life. But what happened was that I met the sweetest man in the world and I fell so deeply in love that I agreed to have another baby, which sometimes seems crazy. But I feel that I have so much love to give. :)

My mother called me yesterday and told me that I'm stupid and week and I shouldn't do this, because I am so old. And because I'm old, I could not handle a baby. She told me that nowadays woman think they are younger than 40 years ago, but actually they are weaker. She said - I hope for your sake, that you would not succeed.... 😢Well, My hormone level is high and with all this... I don't know... I'm just so sad...

lovelivelaugh63 · 09/12/2024 17:15

@Thatslifethatsit yes our first cycle is on the nhs. After that we will have to go private.

@Eliise Don't be sad. Age is just a number and I have heard of a lot of people who conceive later. Be positive and hopeful. Sending baby dust to you 🤍

Thatslifethatsit · 09/12/2024 17:46

@Eliise do not let anyone tell you how to live your life. Hope it all works out for you
@lovelivelaugh63 at least there is something from the nhs

Eliise · 12/12/2024 12:00

Hi,
I wanted to share an update about how things went with my IVF procedure. It has been quite a journey, and I’ve been feeling a mix of emotions throughout.
Yesterday, I had the egg retrieval. They were able to retrieve 16 follicles, and out of those, 11 eggs were collected, which I’m really happy about. It’s a big step forward, and I’m grateful that everything went smoothly during the procedure.
However, the doctor decided not to proceed with the embryo transfer for now. My uterine lining is currently too thin – it measured only 3.6 mm, and it needs to be thicker to provide the best chances for implantation. Although I was a bit disappointed at first, I know it’s for the best to wait until my body is ready.
For now, I’ll focus on taking care of myself, following the doctor’s advice to improve the lining, and preparing for the next steps. It’s a lot to process, but I’m feeling optimistic and hopeful for the future.

MissEmily5 · 12/12/2024 19:24

Hope everyone is doing okay and good luck to everyone going through this. Infertility is such a heartbreaking experience. 💔
My first appointment is mid January, we’ll have been trying 20 months for our first. Me and my OH are 29 and 32, started private testing back in February- at first I was told I had a thin endometrial lining (a few scans confirming) and my OH a low sperm count but last he had tested it was ‘normal’. So who knows why at this point 🙈

@Eliise very sorry to hear the horrible things said to you. I hope you get your chance to prove your mother wrong. X

Thatslifethatsit · 12/12/2024 21:47

@Eliise that is good news re egg collection
they often decide to do a freeze all embryos they are so precious just enjoy Christmas now and hopefully they can transfer for you soon

@MissEmily5 it is heartbreaking and seems a lot of unexplained infertility out there 🤞 in Jan you can get going on your ivf journey

lovelivelaugh63 · 12/12/2024 22:00

@Eliise amazing news about your egg collection.
You want the best chance of getting a bfp first round so take it easy and slow.

Honestly there are so many couples who suffer from infertility right now, and it makes you wonder, what's changed in the last century?

Is it our unhealthy lifestyle now? The food we consume? lack of healthy, balanced diet?

Infertility is horrible, and only those going through it will understand how it takes away your shine and turns you into this miserable, cold person.

lovelivelaugh63 · 12/12/2024 22:01

@Eliise @MissEmily5 @Thatslifethatsit did you guys need a uptodate smear test prior to starting ivf?

Thatslifethatsit · 12/12/2024 22:07

@lovelivelaugh63 they need to see your results from latest one I think up to 2 years?

Eliise · 13/12/2024 07:15

@lovelivelaugh63 I had to do all different kind of analyzes. Included smear test.

WanOvaryKenobi · 13/12/2024 11:48

I'm 32, PCOS, husband is 42. No children. Trying for nearly 3 years. AMH is 80 something p/mol so doing the short (antagonist) protocol. In Scotland so 3 rounds of ICSI.

Decided to delay until after Christmas but I'm due my period when the lab is closed at the end of December. So will have to wait until next cycle at the end of January, blood tests in February, and stims to start in March (if we get in). A bit frustrating but I guess it's another 11 weeks to be as healthy as possible.

MissEmily5 · 24/12/2024 20:23

@Thatslifethatsit definitely! I just want to get going now, I know it’ll be tough but I’m eager to get cracking with it.

@lovelivelaugh63 i think as long as your smear test is up to date, you’re all good:)
Definitely something I think with modern day living- don’t know if you read ‘it starts with an egg’ but it definitely touches on some fertility issues linked to nowadays. An interesting read for sure!

@WanOvaryKenobi sorry that you’ve been in this journey so long. Wishing you all the luck- the waiting is definitely frustrating isn’t it. It’s a true test of patience. 😔

Eliise · 26/12/2024 12:33

@WanOvaryKenobi Christmas and fate have postponed my attempt at pregnancy. After the egg retrieval, I was immediately told that the transfer would be delayed because the uterine lining was too thin. However, I later found out that the transfer wouldn’t have happened anyway, as none of the fertilized eggs developed sufficiently. I was instructed to call the doctor once my period starts to discuss the next steps and treat the lining. My period started, but it's Christmas... so now I’m waiting for January's cycle.
