I'm not trying to conceive but have been having weird long cycles which I thought was due to my age. I've been having 40, 50, 35 day cycles and thought that was it for me; menopause.

Right after my most recent period ended, I had sex with my husband and he asked if he needed to use anything. We usually are careful but this one time we weren't and I've been banging on about how I'm perimenopausal and my cycles are so long etc etc. So I said no, no need, I'm only day 5. Afterwards I realised, I was day 6, the evening of but it was far too early in my cycle to worry about anything.

The next day I saw ewcm, and it continued until cycle day 10 when I felt my usual ovulation cramps (and mine are really specific). I highly, highly suspected I was ovulating. I didn't consider emergency contraception for personal reasons.

5 days later, I had so many weird stabbing pains and twisting and turning sensations. Today, 7dpo, I bought a test as I got very early bpfs with my other kids.

After about 3 minutes or so, I started to see a realy squinter, and within ten minutes it was like this. Do you think I could be pregnant? Has anyone had a positive test come up within 10 minutes so early but so strongly and it be a negative?

Is this what I think it is? Surprise.

My sister’s friend is married to someone who is a lot older and his children are in their late 20s. They have a child together who is 3 and she got pregnant again a few months ago. When she told him he said ‘are you trying to kill me’ 😂 He came around eventually. On a serious note though, I’m sure all men are aware that not using contraception may result in pregnancy so should respect their partner’s decision about what’s happening in her body. Congratulations @Nameswanged

Nameswanged · 14/11/2024 21:08

Thank you @BreakfastOats ! You guys are the only people who know in the world and I'm just wide eyed. I always wanted more children and honestly thought about it every day since my toddler was about 6 months old. I always respected his wishes but wasn't the one ensuring we were using contraception, it was always him. I guess if I had been dead against another, I'd have insisted on a condom but really, who thinks they're going to get pregnant on day 6 when their cycles are getting longer and further apart! We've had unprotected sex about twice or three times right after my period (it's very short and normally finished by day 3) since we had the toddler. I literally cannot believe I've got pregnant.

This has got to be a wind up? My tests are actually getting posted to my work. I know I won't be able to resist and will have to test there.

My kids are all asleep and I'm just looking at them, all so beautiful, and am thinking, there's another one of you beauties inside of me!!!!

I imagine my husband will think 'there's another hole in my pocket now' 😄

If I am pregnant, that is. If I'm not then I'm in serious need of some multivitamins or something!

Wishing you the best OP! He's a big boy who knows how babies are made so don't let him put this on you. He may feel differently after he's had time to process it, so I'd just cross that bridge when it comes to it.

That’s such a loving and sweet thought 🥲 You deserve to have the new baby you want @Nameswanged

At 7dpo and your age I'd be thinking twins!

That's positive.

Both of my children were conceived on day 7 of my cycle. I seem to ovulate way earlier than the tests suggest

It crossed my mind. I felt a lot mechanical work going on at 5dpo so think I just implanted early. I found out at 8dpo with my last child so am trying not to think too much about the twin thing as it's far too scary!

This was a freak for me as I don't tend to ovulate early. Have been tracking my cycles for years (just observing mucus and physical signs) and it generally never happens.

Does anyone think it's an evap?

Exactly! This happened to my friend - she and husband had two and were done. Then she found out she was pregnant and it was twins! Instantly doubled their children 😂 he was dead set against having more but came round to the idea OP as I'm sure yours will too xx

I was just about to say this! Very strong positive for 7dpo, my spider senses would be tingling for twins.

tediber · 14/11/2024 22:06

It's def positive. I'm sure ur dh will come round just a big shock initially. His own fault too for not getting the vasectomy sooner!

Dolly567 · 14/11/2024 22:11

Awwwww Grin congratulations!
I love how excited you are for a new baby, very much like me but I can't afford another lolSad best of luck! So happy for you xx

Cosyblanket99 · 14/11/2024 22:16

Looks positive rather than evap but you’ll have to see what the tests say. I’m sure your DH will come round and as others have said, there’s always a risk of pregnancy with unprotected sex - actually condoms don’t even have a great % effectiveness (google it!) so it could happen whilst using condoms anyway

twohotwaterbottles · 14/11/2024 22:22

Awww. Sending good vibes to you OP and following to see how you get on ☺️

TokyoSushi · 14/11/2024 22:30

Good luck OP!!

LittleBear21 · 14/11/2024 23:15

Hope the test and telling DH go well OP!

Nameswanged · 15/11/2024 05:12

I will test in a few hours as they are getting delivered to my work. If it's negative that will be ok too because i woke up thinking about all of the problems having a new baby would bring, but feel if I had a husband who was going to be like 'we can face these challenges head on' they wouldn't be an issue. I think it's because my husband is such a family man and so invested in his kids, that's what has put him to his limit. He pours his heart and soul into the kids in a way I probably don't (!) he is the one who pushes the homework, the reading, music practise, clubs, healthy diet etc whereas I'm a bit more of a 'let's all cuddle up in front of the TV, we can do your homework later'. 😄

If it's positive, then my true heart's desire will be coming true, despite the challenges like cars, work etc and another unique human will br brought into our family. Our kids are all so quirky, hilarious, very interesting, big characters who are so happy and chatty and colourful and I'm just thinking about who this potential one could be!

I've even been planning gender reveal parties and if you know me, you would know that I find that totally yuck! But I was lying awake last night thinking about all the ways I could do it and how fun it would be 😄 the mind boggles, or hormones boggle more like!!!

I'll keep you all updated. I looked at the line from yesterday and it's still there, strong.

Well with my other kids I ovulated on cycle day 12, 13 and 16 and my cycles have been getting longer so I assumed I'd ovulated towards the end. I've a luteal phase of around 16 days and apparently that never changes, so long cycle, late ovulation. Looking back over the past year, I'd 2 weird short cycles but honestly the normal is now longer. Start having sex towards the end of your period and see if that helps!

I got pregnant with my 1st on day 5. We also thought we didn't need to use anything. Got pregnant intentionally on Day 9 with Dd ( my second). I do have short cycles though.
