I'm not trying to conceive but have been having weird long cycles which I thought was due to my age. I've been having 40, 50, 35 day cycles and thought that was it for me; menopause.

Right after my most recent period ended, I had sex with my husband and he asked if he needed to use anything. We usually are careful but this one time we weren't and I've been banging on about how I'm perimenopausal and my cycles are so long etc etc. So I said no, no need, I'm only day 5. Afterwards I realised, I was day 6, the evening of but it was far too early in my cycle to worry about anything.

The next day I saw ewcm, and it continued until cycle day 10 when I felt my usual ovulation cramps (and mine are really specific). I highly, highly suspected I was ovulating. I didn't consider emergency contraception for personal reasons.

5 days later, I had so many weird stabbing pains and twisting and turning sensations. Today, 7dpo, I bought a test as I got very early bpfs with my other kids.

After about 3 minutes or so, I started to see a realy squinter, and within ten minutes it was like this. Do you think I could be pregnant? Has anyone had a positive test come up within 10 minutes so early but so strongly and it be a negative?

Is this what I think it is? Surprise.

I'm 41 by the way. I didn't know where to post this as I know lots of ladies are ttc and I wasn't but I need to talk to someone but don't want to be insensitive! Please move it if needed.

That's positive. Is it good news?

BrightLemonShark · 14/11/2024 19:08

That looks positive to me, congratulations if you want them. And a hug and it will be alright if this isn’t something you want.

Hi OP,

I have been trying to get pregnant with my second for nearly a year and what struck me in your post is that you think you fell straight after your period which according to my dates with my first, the same would of been for me. Whereas this time I have only focused on my time of ovulation and nothing is happening. Anyhoo please send me baby dust and hope this is good news for you x

Nameswanged · 14/11/2024 19:13

I've always wanted a million children but my husband has been very clear that he absolutely does not. He normally would never come near me without a condom and said a few days ago that he was getting booked in for a vasectomy soon as 'it's madness' that he hasn't already.

I already love this baby if it's a true positive and absolutely do want it. My husband is going to be really upset and I'm worried he will think I've somehow planned it but I never would have done that.

It's hard to tell from your picture but is it a line with colour? Do you have any other tests?

Nameswanged · 14/11/2024 19:19

I can't tell if it's got colour but I started seeing it emerging, vvvv faintly, around 3 mins and it looked like this within ten minutes. I didn't flood the test or anything. It's just so strong for 7dpo, even if it is a greyish colour

New tests arriving tomorrow.
I've been so exhausted lately, yawning all the time and I knew I was pregnant. At least that's how I felt, and I only had sex about 11 days ago.

It's a big thing for my husband this weekend and want to break the news afterwards. Any ideas how I can do this? He honestly won't be happy.

OP posts:
Nameswanged · 14/11/2024 19:40

Honestly he is going to freak. Our other kids were planned and he reacted horribly to the news even then! He is a really involved, active, hands on, loving father and I suspect that he is at his max with what we have. I feel really pms-y; very snappy, that dog tiredness, and just strange.

Today I had to bring my older son somewhere, 10 minute walk, and was pushing the two year old in her pushchair. The buggy felt like there were five children in it and I felt like it was far too heavy. I got my son to push it for a while and even checked the bottom in case my husband had put his weights in it! I checked if the brakes were on (they werent). We were supposed to detour around a few shops on our way home but I couldn't. I had that feeling you got doing shopping on Christmas Eve before online deliveries were a thing! Aching, worn out, exhausted like you'd done a hike amd all the shopping bags are too heavy.

That's why I thought 'this isn't normal' and went to the shop for the test.

There's so much going through my head. Probably all silly stuff but my parents will worry about the baby at 'my age'. I am worried about the baby at 'my age'!!! There are lots of logistical things. I'm worried I'll be too sick/tired/huge to do my job. I've just recovered from a long spell of illness that really kicked my ass and this was supposed to be my year to prove myself.

Or maybe it's an evap on a dodgy test but I feel like I'm pregnant.

Well with my other kids I ovulated on cycle day 12, 13 and 16 and my cycles have been getting longer so I assumed I'd ovulated towards the end. I've a luteal phase of around 16 days and apparently that never changes, so long cycle, late ovulation. Looking back over the past year, I'd 2 weird short cycles but honestly the normal is now longer. Start having sex towards the end of your period and see if that helps!

Have you thought about what to do if your husband reacts badly ?

It looks very positive to me, especially for 7dpo! And your symptoms sound very similar to mine and I just knew too. I went for a walk with my then toddler and I was sooo exhausted by the end of it. I just had a sudden thought of 'I have only felt this type of exhaustion when pregnant!!'. Sure enough I was. And like yours my DH had been vocal about not wanting any more children, but he was great after the shock had worn off.

That's so reassuring, thank you! With my other 3 I'd no symptoms until around 8 weeks. I'm worried I'm going to be really ill. But I keep thinking that i know I'm pregnant and I know that there's a brand new human in there that I already love. Ever since I got the ovulation sensations a literal week ago, I've been goggling baby names and living in a fantasy land where I have a fourth baby and it looks like it's actually real.

Any other stories of husbands being dead set against another baby and coming around to it?
