Trying to Conceive Post Ectopic Surgery

Hi so I had surgery nearly 6 weeks ago for ectopic pregnancy. Period came back exactly 4 weeks post op. Bit heavier but otherwise quite normal for me. Ectopic pregnancy trust and other sources say wait for two cycles before TTC. When I spoke with the surgeon he didn’t seem to have much of a view on this and didn’t see a risk with TTC after first period. I’m in this place of don’t want to waste cycles/ovulating but also anxious as most are post ectopic thinking if I rush could I be risking things if not healed inside! Equally it may take a while to conceive anyways: I’ve had a baby before the ectopic and fell quickly and same with the ectopic but that’s not to say it will be the same now. I’m probably overthinking. Does anyone know why they say two cycles or have any experience etc. thanks in advance :)

Hi I had 2 ectopics both ruptured it's more for healing physically and mentally than anything else I think and no one can predict how well you'll heal so they'll go with the more conservative timeline of 8 weeks rather than say 4. My second ectopic I think I still had stitches in 4 weeks later. My ivf clinic allowed me to start treatment for egg collection after that first treatment though so egg collection would have been around 6-8 weeks after ectopic surgery

Hi @Soph1809 So sorry to hear of your loss its an awful situation to be in. Im in the same position I had surgery just over 7 weeks ago (my first pregnancy) and got my period 6 weeks later, I really want to start the TTC journey again as soon as possible but am equally nervous of the increased risk if everything isnt healed up internally. Did you decide what you would do? Wishing all the best for you!

Hey, sorry youre going through this too!
Im a week post op and had my left tube removed with the pregnancy. Though I am at the beginning of my journey I have been contemplating what to do next also.. im worried if I try after my 1st cycle whether it will happen again if its too soon. But my surgeon said I had no signs of endometriosis or pcos and my right tube looked normal and thought it may have just been a one off but I guess when you have one for some reason unbeknownst to God that youre more at risk (WHHHYYYY THOOUGGHH??)
So I am in in the same situation. Surgeon said to wait 1-2 cycles for dating purposes but I'm terrified because the stakes are higher now with one tube - what are your thoughts? How is it going for you so far?
Side note- this ecropic pregnancy was my 1st cycle trying from my 8wk mmc 💔

Hiya it is truly a whirlwind and quite traumatic emotionally so I am really sorry you’ve also had to go through it. So I fell the month after but sadly that ended in an early miscarriage. So we gave ourselves 3 months of not trying and starting trying again March and I am now 16w pregnant. It was scary and I’m still anxious but as time going on I’m getting to be more okay with it x

Oh wow! Congratulations 🎊
Sorry for hear you had a rough road leading to your rainbow, couldn't have been easy, did they say it was relevant to your then situation?
I've seen stories of success on all accounts really and not sure what to do still. Im really happy youre in a better place now, did you have betas drawn and early scan in place?
Thanks for updating! 💕

@ForLemonSnail Yeah certainly felt rough rode and think that’s why I’ve struggled with anxiety and still am but trying not to and moving house today so that’s distraction if anything hey! They didn’t link the the two losses, I think it was probs just too early for my body and emotionally looking back it was all very raw and my anxiety 10 days of knowing I was pregnant and ectopic worries were really quite bad, whereas after a few months I was still anxious but found not as intense. I think it’s really individual and no right or wrong answer to this situation. It’s definitely possible to have a healthy pregnancy after an ectopic though and I guess I’m living proof ♥️

You sure are and that lightens my spirits quite some! I think I'm going to try and not over think because really I could be spending all my time just thinking and in the end its out of our control anyway. Perhaps by the time my cycle comes back I'll be in a better place mentally and go from there. Im really glad you have a little one baking away and gives me so much hope for the future! Good luck in your journey mamma and thanks for your time! Means alot 💕
