Hello,

I was wondering about how long can we use folic acid for ? for those who are like me trying for more than a year,?
Is it oky to use it for such a long time? I try to stop supplementing once in while, to just give my body a break!
What are your thoughts and your gp recommendations?

Thank you

Folic acid is very safe and fine to take daily long term.

@Heartypandaa me ! Super safe, I'm even on a higher dose due to folate deficiency. You can take it for a lifetime if you want, won't affect your body at all.

Yup me too - currently around 2 years I've been using it and at prescription dose for 8 ish months which is stronger than over the counter.

You’re supposed to have it regardless!! They put it in bread and cereals! It’s in every multivitamin. Don’t stop taking it, especially as it takes a good 3m to build up in your system.

I've been taking it since 2019. There's no reason it would be bad to have long term x

If any chance of becoming pregnant you're supposed to take it, no limits on time frame. You don't need to give your body a break. Won't do any harm.
