Very Short Period

So before I was on the pill my period lasted 5 days or so, 3 days being heavy, and bright red. I came off the pill recently and have had 3 periods since. I seem to have a 24 day cycle, but my periods are so short, max 3 days. I’m mostly concerned about the colour. I’m currently on and it’s more like a mucky brown heavy discharge. I need a pad, I’ve done a test and I’m not pregnant, so it’s not implantation. I’m getting really worried now that I’m in perimenopause, I’m 38 😢Is there any chance that things are just settling still after the pill or why doesn’t it look/feel like my period anymore? Has anyone experienced this?

Mine were like this after I came off the pill. They stayed short (36 hrs of actual bleeding, and then a few days of very light, sporadic brown spotting) but the first day got increasingly more painful and a bit heavier as time went on. I would say it probably is age related as its really normal for periods to change over time. I wouldn't let that worry you particularly; even if it were perimenopause, that wouldn't mean you couldn't conceive.
I did have trouble conceiving and had to have IVF in the end BUT it wasn't due to my short periods. Every single medical professional I spoke to (and there were many of them) was completely unconcerned about them. My uterine lining was always very good when they looked at it (who knows where it was all going 😂) and I'm now pregnant.
If you're super worried about it all you can get private fertility tests done for not huge amounts of money which can give you a sense of what's going on hormonally. Once you hit 6 months of trying the GP will do some of them for you, but you'll probably be pregnant by then anyway. Good luck!

@omgz thank you for your reply🙏🏻 I was planning on getting some checks done anyway so I’ll just start that process sooner.
