Anyone TTC via a donor?

Hi, a bit of an out there post.
I am considering TTC via a donor. I am 30, have a 4 year old already but the thought of settling down with someone scares me due to a bit of a bad experience dating a guy back in 2022. I know I’m not old and I have time, but I’d love a baby now.
I have a very secure job, own home and financially stable.
I have looked into clinics, but also came across some ‘apps’ where donors are on there for free. They offer medical history, STI checks etc and it would be via AI not intercourse.

anyway, has anyone else done this or is anyone else TTC via donor currently?

Honestly my advice is absolutely do not do this, go via a proper clinic.

1. They can offer medical history and STI checks, but you have absolutely no idea who’s sperm it is that you receive. It’s unregulated, very unsafe. The clinic’s charge the amount they do because they do proper and thorough screening checks, you NEED that, don’t take the risk.

2. You have no idea how many “contributions” these men have made.

3. Only donors with high quality sperm can provide to a clinic, they test every sample they receive, these free sites don’t.

If you want a baby, find a good clinic and proceed there.

Def use a clinic

My friend is 45 - currently preg with donor sperm and donor eggs

My friend ended up using a clinic in Denmark as it was cheaper and more humane than the UK apparently. Her little girl is 3 now.

How much did your friend pay if you don’t mind me asking @houwseevryweekend ?

I never asked her but she did say it was cheaper than the standard places in London she looked at.
