Feeling deflated - no line progression - ivf

Hey everyone.

I'm 7dp5dt, equivalent to 12dpo.
We are having ivf for male factor infertility, currently on first round. I had a positive test 5dpt (10dpo), very faint on a clear blue, but considering it was not specifically an test for early testing, I believe it suggests my levels must have been high (ish) to pick it up.

Today's test and yesterday's on first response barely look any different, I would have expected darkening lines.

I'm shocked I even made it to this point, the embryologist was pessimistic about our odds.

I'm trying to manage expectations, in your experiences, when the line has stalled, did it lead to a chemical?

pictured is the clear blue day 5. The other picture is today and yesterday's.

Thank you x

Hi OP, I can see a difference between you 5dpo and 6dpo tests! It's better to compare tests 48 hours apart for HCG to double. If you test tomorrow then hopefully you'll really notice the progression between your 5dpo and 7dpo & try to stick with 1 brand of tests. Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🏽 good luck ❤️

thejadestoneandthedragon · 03/11/2024 10:08

Meant to say 6dpo and 7dpo* the pink dye tests ❤️

wateringcanface · 03/11/2024 10:13

@thejadestoneandthedragon thank you ❤️ I'm sticking to first response going forward. I just have this feeling I'm gonna test tomorrow and it's faded. I only have 2 tests left, so my plan is test tomorrow and Tuesday. Then I go into clinic for blood test.

Best of luck. I've been there - first ivf was a chemical but tbh I sort of knew from the start as the line was far fainter than my previous pregnancy. Yours is darker though so let's hope Flowers

wateringcanface · 03/11/2024 11:43

@MilesOfCarpetTiles thank you. Just seems a little to good to be true we expected this process to go on for months or years. So I feel like I just can't believe it until the line progresses. I hope your later rounds were a success x

Hey OP, I also see a difference

Just wanted to also give a hand hold as I was the exact same in this scenario and tested multiple times a day looking for progression.
I also hit a block thinking there was no progression and too good to be true etc but I now have an almost 3 year old DD sat beside me from those lovely lines.

As hard as it is the best thing is to try not test too much and look for that progression. Right now you're pregnant and those lines are great.
Big hugs

Definitely darker x

Thistimearound · 03/11/2024 16:33

I agree that I see a difference. And really - you’re very early so the difference between a day or two is tiny. Doubling every two days is about a 40% increase each day and let’s say your HCG is low, but enough to be picked up - say 10, that’s only a level of 14 the next day. It’s still going to be really faint and barely different even if it’s progressing normally.

Assuming the pregnancy progresses (and I really hope this is the case) it’s only a week or two or so until your level is literally going up by a 100 + or even 1000 + every single day, and that you can see in line progression.

Yes thank you, second time the charm! Also for male factor.

These teeny beans really put us through the emotional wringer!

msmatcha · 03/11/2024 19:05

I think this looks promising OP....

wateringcanface · 04/11/2024 09:10

Thank you @@Thistimearound

Having a scientific approach really is helpful and reassuring.

I tested today again and see a bit of a progression. I just can't bring myself to believe this could be happening, our odds for this round were low.

Definite progression between day 6 and day 8. Tentative congratulations 🤞xx

pinksheetss · 04/11/2024 10:58

Looking good still OP!!

polkadotpixie · 04/11/2024 12:53

You really need to compare 48h apart and there is a definite difference between 6dpt and 8dpt, I think it's looking really positive

Mseddy · 04/11/2024 18:15

I think it's looking good OP! This is my 6pd5dt and 8dp5dt, which I think looks really similar if not a touch lighter than yours. My faint second line is currently running around the living room causing chaos! Got everything crossed for you. My chemical the round before her never showed any progression at all and was almost gone by OTD

@Mseddy aw that's great to hear, thanks so much

Are you going to get a blood test at the clinic @wateringcanface ?

HammeredMetallic · 05/11/2024 16:21

Everything crossed for your blood test!

wateringcanface · 05/11/2024 16:55

@Thistimearound

Thanks for checking in, I was mistaken, I thought the clinic did blood tests, but they don't it is just the urine tests. I have been given a scan date in 3 weeks to check there is actually something in there. In the meantime, I might continue testing every now and then, as I would prefer to be gradually let down if there's an indication that things aren't going well, rather than have it crashing down when I go for a scan, but hopefully that's not the case.

My line was looking lovely and thick this morning so I'm happy with that😊
