Can BBT be wrong about ovulation?

Just wondered if anyone had experiences of BBT wrongly predicting ovulation and getting their BFP?
Trying to find hope for this month as I’ve messed my dates up :(

Yes, but usually because you're sick/awake in the night/jetlagged and not sleeping well. If all is normal and you get a reliable rise post ovulation then it's pretty solid.

To add you can’t use bbt to plan ovulation because it only confirms it’s already happened. If you wait for the bbt spoke you’ll have missed your entire fertile window.

I’ve attached my graph for you both to please see!
i got confused as I had my dip and it predicted ovulation was CD16
my peak on LH strips was CD 15
but now it’s moved my ovulation day to CD 19 :( so feel like we are completely out!
but by CD16//17/18 my CM was creamy and my cervix felt low, sorry for the TMI !!

Looks like you ovulated CD15 from that.

Do you not take it every morning? There’s no data points on cd 14/16/18?

I would lean towards cd18? being ovulation. It could be as early as cd17. Three consecutive raised temps above the cover line is what it uses to confirm it occured (you may already know that). Cd11 is similar temp to where cd missing 18 is from the line. So I would say between cd17-19 for ovulation.

I don’t use the dip for confirmation. Some months I didn’t get a distinct dip as such. I used ovulation tests for the heads up that it would occur with a peak test, and my bbt always confirmed it two days after the peak (eg cd16 peak, cd17 ovulation, cd18 temp rise and stayed high). Do you take ovulation tests?

Also when did you last dtd? There is a 5 day window so you might still be in with a chance.

I discount days if I’ve woken in the night/ had a drink (I’ve been away the last week)

thanks for your reply!! Helpful to know about the dip not being important
we dtd at the days I’ve marked with a love heart at the top so hopefully still in with a chance this month!!

Ah I missed that. You DTD on cd15 so that’s definitely a chance. Also I’m only guessing too you could have ovulated on cd16 who knows.

I conceived this time and we last DTD two days before ovulation. We didn’t do it again after that point. I’m now 15 weeks along.

Oh thank you so much for this message! I still have hope!
did your bbt rise slowly too? I see others charts have a short sharp increase but mine is very slow, not sure if this is ok

and congratulations 🥰🥰

Thankyou.

No mine is sharp however you are missing days of data. Mine is zig zag in nature. I used fertility friend. The sharpness is due to it being every day for me, if I only did it every other day it could look a bit more gradual I guess.

curliegirlie · 30/10/2024 12:23

Maybe try plugging this into Fertility Friend - the charts on there are much easier to interpret.
