CD46 and feeling pretty desperate

Hi all

I have got PCOS, and have what is classed as irregular periods as they vary so much (between 22-38 days this year so far) however I'm now on CD46 which is the longest cycle I think I have ever had in my life (im 31) and wondering if there is anything I can do about it.

I did have a positive OPK around CD19, which then went negative again so I assumed ovulation had occured and stopped using OPKS around CD25. I now know that the LH surge can't have lead to ovulation back then, as I would have had my period by now if it had. We have had sex since then several times so I suppose technically I could have conceived if I have now ovulated, but I'm currently testing negative.

Has anyone else ever experienced an unusually long cycle and is there anything I can do to try and sort it? I'm very keen to move onto my next cycle in order to try again, and also as I have a HSG to book which I can't do until my period starts again.

Just feeling really out of tune with my body right now and hate not knowing where I am in my cycle. Would be great to hear outcomes from anyone who has had this.

CD67 has been my longest. 🙈 I have no idea why that happened.
I do not have any diagnosis of PCOS or anything.
Usual for me is between 30 and 44.

I just wondered if you had come off any contraception at all?
I did ha e implant so but down my irregular cycles to that but almost a year since that has been out for me now.

Do you use any apps?
I use Flo and premom to track and use OKP tests as well.

MocktailMe · 27/10/2024 17:56

Hey I do use Flo although it's almost never accurate and yes to OPKS too, although due to multiple peaks it can be hard to be sure. I think this new cycle now I need to commit to twice daily OPKS for the entire cycle, which is quite demanding but really will be the only way to know for sure if my first peak test will be the one I actually ovulated on.

I previously used a copper coil so haven't been on hormonal birth control for nearly a decade.

Hi OP, I also have PCOS and did have long cycles, speak with your GP as they can prescribe you metformin which can help regulate your cycle and help you ovulate.

MocktailMe · 28/10/2024 01:17

Hey I've actually been on a prescription for that - since taking it I had one 22 day cycle and now this one! I did stop taking it mid way through this cycle though as the side effects are terrible but I will persevere this cycle with it!
