My fellow PCOS ladies - I'm curious, what would you say is your biggest challenge when it comes to making dietary changes to improve ovulation/TTC?
I personally find it such a struggle to stick with any kind of plan and I end up feeling like a failure 😭

Have you looked into Mounjaro/ Ozempic? It worked for me x

Readytotryagain · 25/10/2024 14:49

i Second mounjaro. Best decision I ever made. X

PCOS of 10years + here. I needed fertility treatment to conceive DD1. In between DD1 and DD2, I did the Fast 800 diet, lost 12kg in 12weeks and then conceived DD2 naturally at the end of the 12weeks. I paid the £80 for the website, did the meal planning and was quite strict. The incentive was getting my BMI to below 30 in case we needed treatment again but actually, seeing the results start to happen quite quickly (not just weight loss but improved sleep and energy levels) meant that I really stuck at it. Obviously, I was amazed to fall pregnant naturally after DD1 had taken nearly 2yrs.

I'm about to sign up again to help lose the post DD2 weight I gained.

I looked into the weight loss injections at the time but they are very clear that you should not get pregnant whilst using them and you should wait a couple of months after coming off to get pregnant. I wanted to keep trying whilst losing weight as i was late 30s and didnt have time to wait, so it wouldn't have worked for me.

Thank you 🙂 can I ask, did you use this to help with getting pregnant? I've heard a lot of people say that it's not safe for pregnancy.

Thanks @CarolNewYear ❤️ Did you also make changes to your diet when you were taking this? And did it help you get pregnant/ restore ovulation?

That's amazing @CrispAppleStrudels 👏 congrats on conceiving both your little ones! Wow 12kg in 12 weeks is a lot! I hope it works as well for you again this time round, thank you for sharing 🙏
Is there anything about this diet that you've found easier to follow? I've tried lots of different diets in the past but always end up falling off the wagon.

I looked into ozempic as a close friend lost loads on it and found it easy, but they say you shouldn’t use if TTC. I also find it so hard to stick to any diet. I have done the 5:2 diet before years ago but hard when my partner eats. A lot more and we cook together. I’m worried my weight is affecting my hormon levels and therefore fertility so it’s a huge motivator yet it’s still really hard. I keep intending to stop drinking too as that’s empty calories (only drink at the weekend but it adds up)

I am considering taking a break from TTC if I get a BFN this week and try mounjaro for a while. I'm so utterly fed up with my weight at the moment and I'm trying to rush into TTC and it's not working. With DC1 I was over a stone lighter when I conceived (I was still medically overweight though) so I just think I need to come down a bit and try again.

Take a look at this video on YouTube
HOW KETO HELPS PCOS — DR. ERIC WESTMAN

I find a ketogenic diet really easy to stick to, and it has lots of health benefits. Take a look, and see what you think.

Best of luck!

I got to my goal weight using Mounjaro, had a break, and now pregnant. Mounjaro helped to control my appetite and after I stopped taking it I found I had more control + am able to make better choices. You still have to diet on mounjaro, but for me it gave me the willpower I'd never had. Lost 20kgs on it x

1woodpecker · 28/10/2024 07:50

Have you tried any supplements OP? I’ve just started myo-inositol which is supposed to help (too early for me to say as only on firsts month though)

Joleyjojo · 28/10/2024 11:40

I am 39 nearly 40 with BMI of 32. I need to loose a stone to get to BMI 30 incase of treatment.
I don’t have time on my side to stopTTC whilst taking weight loss meds. But I have recently suffered a chemical and then MMC back to back.
I have started today being stricter on my diet but don’t know what to do for the best. Stop TTC to loose weight with meds or not x

Tigerlilli · 28/10/2024 13:22

Just jumping in here! Hi ladies!

I’ve had 2MC, a chemical and 2 weeks ago a MMC.

I have PCOS, also thyroid problems, started mounjaro sept and only actually got one dose in as I fell pregnant naturally (after a year of trying and nothing!) whilst on it, so stopped.

Now after MMC, I’m wondering if the mounjaro could have caused it, or if it actually helped. I’m debating going back on it, but I’m worried about the amount of people saying not safe when TTC. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I'm not sure exactly. I've also found lots of diets hard to follow and on the face of it, fast 800 is just another low carb/ Mediterranean style diet. But the website really helped to make things easy with meal planning / creating shopping lists. I found doing 16:8 quite easy (i ate lunch and dinner). We also bought an air fryer, which sounds silly, but made cooking much easier and quicker so less snacking whilst waiting for dinner to be ready. And the incentive of a much wanted second baby was hard to ignore. Once the weight started coming off, I was increasingly motivated to stick at it. The first two weeks were awful but then it was like something clicked into place.
