I am a bit worried and would appreciate some advice please.

My last period started on the 4th of April but 2 days ago (on day 18 i think) i started getting a medium brown very light 'period' its lasted for 2 and a half days and is so light i don't need to use anything. It is not a period as it has stayed the same in colour and not got any heavier. Also i have no symptoms, no cramps, pmt, bloating etc. I'm a little worried i may have caught an std but don't see how that is possible as i am in a committed long term relationship. Any advice please.

have you been particularly, ahem, enthusiastic, about ttc-ing? I've never had OV bleed either, but have heard of it.

It could be lots of things, including from sex, uti, infection, hormone imbalance causing breakthrough bleeding, cervical erosion.

Call your practice nurse for advice in the first instance if you are worried.

I hadn't had sex for a few days before it started (and even then it was particually enthusiastic mores the pity lol) I'm not on the pill or anything and dp has a very low sperm count so i'm not pregnant! I have no pain at all, nor during sex. Its more annoying than anything else and i desperatly don't want to see a doctor for something like this as i feel irrationally paniced and freak out, ending up in tears. I can't remember the last time i even had a smear, must be 5 years ago!

It could be implantation spotting. A low sperm count doesn't always mean a no sperm count.

Also, please have a smear test shortly. There's a very convincing thread about it today.

I had mid cycle bleeding when very stressd - could that apply to you? Go to the doctor, I did the first time I had it and they were quite happy to put my mind at ease.

I know i ought to have a smear but i keep putting it off and then promising myself i'll remake the appointment. Last time i had one the nurse accidently pinched me with the spectrum and i nearly shot off the table!
