Working out dates

Hi all,

I’ve found out I’m pregnant! I’ve self-referred to antenatal services at my local hospital but have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment and I really want to know my due date and how many weeks I am but have no idea how it’s calculated!

The first day of my last period was 14 September. The only date we had sex was 22 September. I track my periods on clue and that predicted my ovulation day as 26 September. My cycle is usually around 25 days but it’s irregular and can vary from 21-28 days. My periods are very light and short, usually 2-3 days.

So, how many weeks am I and when would my due date be? Is it counted from my last period, when we had sex or my likely ovulation day (which would be when the egg was actually fertilised and therefore presumably the day of conception even though we had sex 5 days earlier)?

Sorry if I sound stupid!

Hey,

You can use the NHS due date calendar to work it out. I use flo app and once you log a positive test, it gives your due date. Might the app clue do something like that also? I’m not familiar with that one. Congratulations also x

Pregnancy due date calculator

Use the pregnancy due date calculator to work out roughly when your baby is due to be born, working from the first day of your last period.

Hi OP, there are apps which work out approximate due date but, unless you were physically tracking ovulation, you'll only really know when you get a scan and baby's measurements are taken.
I am 12 days different to what I would be from LMP because i ovulated late.

Initially, it is worked out as 40 weeks from the first day of your last period.

You could count 38 weeks from 26th but it’s only a guess without knowing when you ovulated.

The scan will give you a better estimate.

For now; you count the weeks from 14 September. Hopefully everything continues well and you have your 12 week scan; then they’ll measure and provide a more accurate estimates due date. But remember it’s a due period of 37-42 weeks! Don’t focus on the date too much:
