TTC - no period

We have just started TTC. First month off contraception and actively trying, havent been putting any pressure on as I know it can take a while for the pill to come out your system properly. I have endometriosis and my periods are usually early and heavy. For the first time, my period hasn’t arrived 7 days after it’s meant to. I’ve had negative pregnancy tests and cramping but still no period. I’m 29 and relatively fit and healthy, not overweight or smoke. I’m so stressed that there’s something wrong. My period has never been this late before and I am terrified this means there’s a fertility issue. Has anyone experienced anything similar and can advise?

Have you only just come off the pill OP? Just because it’s worth remembering that your bleed when on the pill isn’t actually a period, it’s a withdrawal bleed, so you can’t compare those cycles to your non-contraception cycles.

Yes, I have just come off the pill. I am hoping that my body just needs some time to adjust to the change but can’t help thinking the worst. Hopefully it will come!

In that case you have no idea what your usual cycles are, unless you meant the cycles before you ever started the pill? Your cycles on the pill are not genuine cycles, they and the bleed is controlled by the tablets you are taking so of course they are always regular/on time. Your body now is remembering how to do this and kicking back in itself, it can take time, try not to worry and definitely don’t worry after only a month. Good luck x

Thank you so much. I’m definitely still trying to get to grips with it all! I’ve had breaks in my pill before due to my endometriosis and don’t remember noticing a difference with my period so it’s reassuring that this isn’t something concerning. I think ttc is adding extra pressure. Thank you so much for your advice. Good luck to you too x
