Period + positive test - concerned

Hi,

I am 30 and have been TTC for about 6 months. Had a chemical pregnancy in May, nothing since.

This cycle I started spotting (brown) on day 27, seemed a bit unusual so I took a test which was very very faint positive. The spotting continued for 2 days, and tests continued to be faint positive. The spotting then developed into full bleeding (normal period type bleeding, fairly heavy) for 2 more days. This morning the bleeding seems to be stopping, which is what I would expect from a period, but for some reason I did a test and it has come up with a clear line, significantly darker than before. This is unlike my previous chemical where lines just got fainter and fainter then disappeared.

At the same time, for the last day or so I have had quite bad back pain - difficult to pinpoint location as it kind of moves around, often feels like upper back, to the side of my spine, a bruised feeling? And last night I had some burning type pain at my breastbone. This could be unrelated.

Any theories as to what might be happening? I wouldn't say I feel unwell in myself. Obviously concerned about risk of ectopic but also just very confused...

Attaching a pic of this morning's test. Grateful for any thoughts!

could it be an implantation bleed. I had 2/3 days of bleeding when I conceived my daughter thought it was a period but it actually wasn’t. Here’s hoping 🤞🏻

Please go to an early pregnancy unit to rule out ectopic.

Thank you - I've contacted GP as they have to refer you to EPU in my area. Ectopic is my main concern.

Keeping fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

Just back from GP. They did a preg test there and it was negative - which is confusing as my home tests are definitely positive - can't seem to upload photo but I've also done a FRER and there is a very clear line. GP said their tests are not necessarily that sensitive - anyone know if this could explain it?

Going back this afternoon for an HCG blood test. If it is positive she will refer me to EPU, if negative they will do some more tests as this would be my third chemical pregnancy.

Also meant to say she wasn't concerned about ectopic - apparently it wouldn't usually show this early so my pain is likely to be unrelated.
