Anything I’m Missing? AF 10 days late

Hi all
First time TTC so would appreciate a 2nd opinion.

AF is now 10 days late (CD 40). My cycle is regular at around 30 days, sometimes a day later than Flo predicts but nothing significant. I’ve been off the pill for 6 months, no previous pregnancies. I’m 29, had thyroid and hormones etc all checked about a year ago unrelatedly and no concerns.

I don’t test for ovulation, just trying to dtd every few days while keeping an eye on Flo app. Ovulation was predicted by Flo Day 16 5th Sept, I’ve been testing every few days since 10dp‘o’, all negative. Started having period symptoms since about a week before AF due: sore breasts, cramps, bloating, nausea for about 2.5 weeks now. I don’t ‘feel’ pregnant in that it doesn’t feel any different from usual, it just feels like AF is always about to arrive!

Taking folic acid which I know might throw cycle off.

I’ve been trying to relax and just put it down to a funny cycle but wanted second thoughts as relaxing is getting harder and harder! Want to start a new cycle so we can start trying again.

All tests I’ve taken have been stark white negatives with strong control line but from the same batch of internet cheapies. Would you be wondering if there’s something wrong with the batch? It felt like overkill to go buy other tests when I have loads at home!

Is there anything I’m not considering that you’d be thinking of? Am I being naive to just wait this out? Or shall I just keep waiting for AF to arrive?

This happened to me twice. I went to the doctor about it the first time, they did a test, it was negative, and I finally came on day 45. The next time it happened (a year later), it was day 49! Completely regular other than that. The doctor said it could be down to a number of things, especially stress. I didn’t feel particularly stressed, but I guess not coming on when you’re supposed to can be stressful in itself!

Try not to worry, but if it goes on for another month I would make an appointment in case it’s something like early menopause, but I think this unlikely just from a one off late period.

I've had a couple of cycles like this in life (now 40+) where I'm just super late one month or skip a period altogether then back to normal the next month. No obvious reason or explanation and always very frustrating.

Unless you have ovulated really, really late this month then I think it's safe to say you're not pregnant with all the negative tests. Sorry.

Sometimes we do just have one off weird cycles unfortunately! Stress, travel, diet changes, exercise changes, illness, prenatal vitamins, can all cause delays to a period. As it’s just a one off I wouldn’t worry about it - it’s just one of those frustrating things. I’ve been a victim to 2 really long cycles in the past 1.5 years or so. Just happens sometimes. You can continue testing but honestly I wouldn’t bother. Try to distract yourself for the next couple of days until AF arrives and try again next cycle. Best of luck x

Thanks everyone! That’s exactly what I was thinking so no disappointment, as long as I know I’m not overlooking anything!
