Has anyone had IUI?

My SIL and BIL are starting treatment next month.
They've been given some IUI treatments and a cycle of IVF.

They've been tested for everything and found no reasons as to why SIL cannot become pg.

Has anyone had a successful go with IUI?
Did it work first time or had you used other treatment before?

I'd love to hear some stories.

The success rate of IUI is supposed to be not very high but it worked first time for us.

Similar story here - seven years of trying (well more like four of not trying not to followed by three of panic).

Tests showed polycystic ovaries - but not serious, fibroids - but not that big or positioned anywhere where they were likely to be much of a problem. Conclusion: unexplained sub-fertility.

Could get approved for ONE course of any type of treatment so got on waiting list for IVF. Paid for IUI while waiting (a fraction of the price of IVF). Feels like ancient history now. DS1 is now four DS2 (no fertility treatment) is almost two.

I really hope it works for your SIL and BIL.

Thank you swampster

Very positive that it worked first time for you!

I've had it twice. First time it took 8 "goes" to conceive DD (most doctors won't keep going that long, by the way, we had private treatment). Second time it worked first month and I was a bit . It felt like a "surprise" baby, which is a bit daft when you're having fertility treatment.
Anyway, the point is that even though the cycle-by-cycle success rate isn't great, it did work for us.
