Ovulation and periods

Should a positive ovulation stick be ignored if it's during a period? For context, this would be the usual day for ovulation but on day 4 of a random, second period that has started a week after having the regular period (possibly stress?). Posting on behalf of a very fed up TTC friend.

Have you tried a pregnancy test jusy incase it was implantation? Also LH surges around the start of a period so it could just be one of those things

Thank you - I didn't want to suggest a test because she's having a hard enough time I didn't want to get any false hopes up (I did wonder if implantation but it seems to be quite heavy, so probably a stress period).

It could be ovulation bleeding?
