High AMH levels

Eirlys75 · 18/09/2024 16:15

Hi, I'm 29 and my AMH levels are 60.1. The nurse said that's within range (<70) and anything to 90 AMH tends to indicate PCOS. I had a scan that showed a lot of follicles, but I seem to ovulate every month (CD17-19) and I have a monthly period, my monthly cycle is around 27-28 days (not including the spotting I have 2 days before). I know that I have a short luteal phase, I've been given progesterone for this. But reading AMH levels online I think mine is higher than a lot of people's? Any advice around this? Thanks.

Thanks for responding @Elisabeth3468 . Were your cycles and ovulation regular? X

Ahh okay, that's interesting. Mine are always bang on, both period and ovulation. It's confusing! I have a meeting with my fertility consultant Monday, so I'll be able to explore it with her x

Mine were 114! Regular cycles and no PCOS (have had many scans as I do have mild endo). Doesn’t always have to mean PCOS, and I conceived my little boy quickly last year x

I have 80. No PCOS. Borderline more cysts but “regular” 34/35 day cycle but no ovulation and a short 7/8 Luteal phase. Still trying to find out if there is a root cause but NHS don’t want to investigate and just give me fertility meds! Fustrating.

Thank you, this is so reassuring! Congrats on your baby boy! Xx

Ohh how interesting! In my scan they said that I had 'multiple follicles' but no PCOS. Its strange how we both have short luteal phases as well! Ahh, I'm sorry that's your experience with the NHS, ours hasn't been great either! What meds did they put you on? X

Clomid for ovulation induction and progesterone for my Luteal phase which worked to have my son! Now back on the journey again!

so he’s my scan was the same.

as a healthy person I find it odd that my body isn’t naturally ovulation / has a short Luteal phase so would love to know if there was a reason but no idea where to start looking!

You can have regular cycles and have pcos

You can have pcos and often get preg
( Metformin - myo inostol and vit d ,)

I have pcos

I got preg last yr but had miscarriage but that was b4 i was on meds 4 pcos

In pcos patients they often have low progsterone

They often have low vit d
And low shbg too.

In pcos patients they often have high androgen and low shbg

Walnuts raise shbg

Talk to gynae if u think u have pcos

Ask gp for shbg and free androgen bloods

Bloods 3 - 5 day of cycle of fsh and LH show if pcos

Mine was 62 and I have very irregular periods. You can have pcos and have regular periods. Mine became very regular in the year before pregnancy

Good to know! How many months did you take C&P? I'd like to start clomid soon.

Yes, I feel the exact same way, I want to know WHY my luteal phase is so short to try and fix the core issue, rather than just trying to fix the presenting issues! I hope you're able to...and if you find anything out, please do let me know!

Thanks! I am under a fertility consultant, and I really don't think that I have PCOS, which is why I'm shocked. Did you have any symptoms with PCOS? I've had my bloods done (5 day and 21 day) and all of them were in range. It's all very confusing!

The criteria to diagnose pcos means u have 2 things off a long list

I have low shbg
I have / had high androgen
I get my chin waxed
Etc

worldwidetravel2017 · 20/09/2024 07:14

What was your day 21 progsterone ?

worldwidetravel2017 · 20/09/2024 07:18

The thing also with amh - is it can be helpful
But we dont know about quality 4 the eggs.
Just the volume

Generally though - people with higher amh often have a better chance re ivf
Than those with v v low amh

My mate has v v low amh
Shes had 5 private failed ivf

So I did 3 rounds of clomid (5 tablets day 2-7 of my cycle) followed by 14 days of progesterone the day after I ovulated. And then continued for 3 months to support my pregnancy.

I went back to my consultant and once I can “prove” I’m not ovulating I will be given letrazole instead. Apparently this is more common to prescribe these days (London based!)

Yes! I’m currently hitting blanks with a root cause or where to start, but if you find anything shout!
