The wait after MMC

i had an MMC in the Autumn last year and when reading and catching up on here there seems to be so many ladies who had the same misfortune. However, it seems to me that almost all those I read about around the same time have gone on to have successful pregnancies now. I am really happy for everyone because it is a horrible experience to have but I am feeling so left behind and seriously questioning why me and I just wondered if anyone out there was still waiting too.

I’m so sorry @Carportforme I’m still waiting too. I had a MMC in November. I did get pregnant again but had another loss in May. It’s almost a whole year now since I first found out I was pregnant. It seems to be getting more difficult to deal with now, and feel so consumed by it all

Carportforme · 14/09/2024 20:29

Hello Figtree1 We are pretty much the same then. I had a Chemical, a couple of months back. I too find it all consuming and I think I am more worried about actually having another loss if and when I do conceive than the actual conception itself.
It all just seems completely unfair doesnt it. I am really feeling it more and more now.

It’s awful isn’t it. My most recent loss was a partial molar pregnancy, and I am so worried of it happening again. I’ve just come to the end of my period, and I’m so out of whack from what’s been happening the last few months I don’t think I will ovulate again til mid/end October. So I’m worried about that, and then if I do get pregnant that’s a whole load of more worry! I feel very tired of it all, and was tipped over the edge this week by 2 pregnancy announcements from friends

Gracie1825 · 14/09/2024 21:12

I had a mmc in December @ 10 weeks and another last week @ 8 weeks so out not alone, also currently trying to decide if I can go though the heartbreak again

Bb542 · 14/09/2024 21:18

I had two losses within the last 6 months. Kind of trying again now but not so rigidly. Hope you're okay ❤️

DiscombobulatedCactus · 14/09/2024 21:20

Awww it's incredibly unfair. I had an MMC last year in November, entirely self-managed (although it was very hard), and the EPU nurse told me it doesn't mean I'll have another one. Fast forward to now and, again, I've had an MMC. The second one in a row. I'm waiting on a call from the EPU for a confirmation scan because apparently there needs to be two sonographers present and at the scan I had this gone Thursday there was only the one sonographer on shift. The scan was a 12 week scan and the baby was measuring about 6 weeks behind with no cardiac activity, so the confirmation scan is just a formality to be honest. I might go for surgical management this time only because the baby had a heartbeat, so there may be enough tissue to test, and although there is nothing I could have done to prevent it, I'd like some closure. It's all so rotten. I have no living children and the heartbeat (I only saw, I never heard) was the very first time for myself and DH. It meant so much to us, and our hearts got ripped out on Thursday 😭 We have no hope left, but we will keep trying, it's all we can do. It's all anyone can do.

Carportforme · 14/09/2024 22:38

Goodness, there are more of us than I realised. :(
@DiscombobulatedCactus I was exactly the same ag my MMC, 12 weeks and measuring 6.
Ladies, we are all feeling this pain but let's just pray that we are successful soon.
I am not really sure how I feel about the idea of another loss/more losses but, to be honest I just dont want to go there really. I cant cope with the emotion that brings.
Best of luck going forwards to us all x

Right here with you all. I found out I was pregnant in December and had a mmc at 11 weeks in February. Fell pregnant first cycle after and had another miscarriage in may at 8 weeks. Since then I've had irregular cycles and no sign of another pregnancy. We would love our rainbow to complete our family.
Sending love and strength to all xx

moosey89 · 15/09/2024 22:47

I'm here with you too. MMC July 2019, MMC in July last year, MMC May this year. On cycle 4 of trying again. Feels like almost everyone who was around for my first or second loss has had/is having a successful pregnancy. You're definitely not alone xx

JellyBean123456, so sorry for your losses. It is so time consuming and sad, I know x

Oh, moosey89, so sorry. Have you had any tests at all. Have you had vitamin levels checked or anything? X

OP posts:
moosey89 · 17/09/2024 08:34

@Carportforme thank you. I've had every test the NHS offers and it's all totally normal! So frustrating. Waiting on the genetic blood tests me and my partner had after our most recent loss to see if we are carriers of a condition, not sure what next steps are after that x

Oh bless you. It is really hard and you absolutely deserve your rainbow baby. I was reading, the other day, that low vitamin D was very likely to be a factor in missed miscarriages and I wanted to just check that you had had yours checked. Probably ridiculous for me to say as I am sure you have had this checked but wanted to mention.
I so hope that you at least get an answer so you know where you are with things. All so horrible! X

@Carportforme ah thank you, appreciate you asking 😊 yeah, had it tested and also have a vitamin d supplement, just in case! Thank you for being so kind. How are you doing?x

Bb542 · 18/09/2024 19:55

I've had low vitamin D too and have had two miscarriages. I've read there is a link between low vitamin d levels and miscarriage. I'm now taking supplements which my GP has prescribed and hoping it helps if I fall pregnant again 🤞🏼

You are very welcome and thank you for asking. I am nor bad really. I dont seem to be a person who falls pregnant easily but I am taking what I think are a good collection of vitamins plus my low dose aspirin so I must live in hope. I was thinking about saving up for immune testing but then I read Dr Regan's book, Miscarriage' and now so sure now. I guess time will tell.

I was the same and am also on extra supp, moments. I was also short on folate. I now take 5 methyl instead of FA. I had read about the miscarriage link too I was just surprised to find a report about a particular link to MMCs. We can only do our best and so hope we all get there x

Yes, it is really exhausting and I agree that getting that BFP is great but the worry very obviously doesn’t end there.
I have to say I am at the point where I just blank any pregnancy announcements. I just can’t be bothered with it to be honest. X

So sorry for your losses. You can only make the right decision for you, of course but I would say that for me, I will start my next pregnancy with low to nothing on expectations and assume the worst till I know otherwise. That’s how I will be trying to cope with the fear and I look towards it with some sadness that I have to feel that way but knowing that there is always hope x
