Positive cheapie, negative clear blue?

Hello 😊

I’m having a weird cycle and would appreciate any opinions!

Yesterday at 11DPO I got a really faint line on a cheapie (Premom). I tested with a cleablue ultra early digital and it came back negative. I assumed the cheapie maybe was an evap line, although I’ve used up almost all of the pack and haven’t had one before.

Got home from work yesterday night and did another Premom. Again a very faint but ever so slightly darker line.

Did a Premom this morning (12DPO) there is a slightly darker line. I’ll attach a photo. Did the other clear blue digital ultra early from the pack and it was negative again?

Surely the clear blue should pick this up by now? I even opened it up to see the line inside and totally negative, no shadow of a line. Aren’t these tests meant to be really sensitive?

Separately, if I am actually pregnant, I am assuming this will be a chemical with such a faint line at 12DPO. What do you think?

Positive cheapie, negative clear blue?

Maybe it’s the photo, but I can’t see a line on that one. I think it’s still quite early, I’ve had a few false lines on those tests. Wait a week and try with the digital again, it will give a more accurate reading then.

Digital tests require higher HCG levels compared to the pink dye tests. I can see the line on your premom test and it's looking on point for 12dpo to be honest.

Test again at 14dpo. Good luck!

Thank you for the replies! Looking at the photo I am also struggling to see it there myself! But it definitely is there in real life. My husband could even see it in the dark bedroom with all the blinds closed.

I do think it is a real line rather than an evap because a) it came up whilst the dye was still running across, I saw it almost straight away b) although very faint, it has been getting darker across the three tests c) this one definitely has colour to it in real life. I have had evaps before but this one today feels more like a real line.

I know the only answer is to wait and see. But if anyone has any experience of the clear blue ultra early tests that would be great because I thought they were meant to be really sensitive (they say the same as FRER)?!

I had a faint line 9dpo and a more clear line 10dpo but a negative early digital they aren’t as sensitive. Took again two days later then it said pregnant so I wouldn’t rule it out just based on the clear blue

Ah that’s useful thank you! I’ve just had some brown discharge unfortunately so I think after all that I’m coming on my period a day early! What a weird cycle

@imy how's your discharge now? I had brown spotting after BFP which started the day before af was due. I was sure I'd had a chemical and my period was arriving. However spotting stayed light and my lines got darker each day. I'm now 16 weeks pregnant, so spotting or brown discharge doesn't necessarily mean you're out. Keeping fingers crossed for you xx

CosmicLove · 13/09/2024 19:57

@imy I can definitely see a faint line in your pic x

TheShellBeach · 13/09/2024 19:58

I can see a faint line on that test.
The brown discharge might be implantation.

imy · 14/09/2024 05:26

Hi all, thanks so much for the replies. Yesterday evening I did another test and the line was darker and gave me some hope. However I’ve just woken up and tested and the line is significantly lighter, so unfortunately I am assuming it’s a chemical. The brown discharge did stop but I’m due on my period today so I’m just hoping I do come on soon so that I can focus on trying again!

Different tests, different sensitivities.

You're still very early, I'd wait 48 hours and retest. You have to give time for the hcg levels to rise, no point doing repeated tests morning and night

Good luck

TheShellBeach · 14/09/2024 08:34

I don't think you're out yet.
Give it a day or two and test again.

TheShellBeach · 17/09/2024 12:03

Did you test again @imy?

imy · 17/09/2024 14:00

Hello @TheShellBeach :) Thank you for checking in! Yes I have been testing. The line has stayed very faint and I ended up going to the EPU because I was concerned that ongoing brown spotting + faint lines could be an ectopic. They scanned me yesterday and luckily found an embryo in my uterus so no ectopic, but given the lines on my tests I am still assuming it's a chemical. They did an HCG blood test and will repeat on Wednesday but my bleeding has become red and much heavier today so I am assuming I am finally passing it/coming on my period (whichever you want to call it!). I am feeling ok about it mostly because I just always knew the line was too light and not progressing as it should, and so I'm not feeling too disappointed. I just want this to be over and to move onto the next cycle.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that.
Very disappointing.
