Trying to figure out when I ovulated

Hi All,

I have been doing OPKs for 4 months in anticipation for TTC. I usually have regular cycles of 28-32 days. This month, I am on CD 34 and no AF. PTs all negative. I’m curious if I ovulated later so have attached my chart in case you can help.

It would seem I ovulated on 28 Aug, but I thought I ovulated on 22nd August. I have positive OPKs on 18th and 25th August. What do you think when looking at the BBT charts?

Personally i use the green 5 gbp ovulation tests off Amazon
Twice a day from end of period..

Have you tried clear blue digital ovulation test? I tested the morning after my LH peak was confirmed last cycle and it was first success of smiley face which I think is a sure fire way of confirming ovulation

I have used the easyathome and the clear blue ones. Bizarrely, first time this month I got a peak/surge twice (static smiley) but 1 week apart, however what I’m confused about it is when looking at my BBT, it seems my temp elevated a little after the first peak and then ALOT after the second ovulation peak. So just trying to figure out whether I’m 18 DPO or 11 DPO. I have very elevated heart rate and mild cramps, and have been sleeping a lot but still BFN. Trying to figure out whether it’s too late for me this month or if I still have a chance.

Even if it’s not my time this month, I was hoping I could figure this out for next month x

@Heretolearnttc I'm no expert as fairly new to tracking but I understand that BBT is the way to confirm actual ovulation so I think I'd go with your second smiley face. I had two months where I was getting like a half period which was really frustrating so i understand how annoying it is when trying to track!

Thanks @Mirren22, tbh I think you’re right. I naively made sure I’d aligned BD-ing with the first peak (becomes less spontaneous when you’re TTC) and think I probably missed the. Protect window this month. Nevermind, I’ve learnt some new things on here for the next round. Good luck to everyone here x

Multiple LH surges can happen in people who have pcos

Thanks for the guidance @worldwidetravel2017, but I don’t have any PCOS symptoms so maybe it was a one off - will keep testing x

Did you have the double surge with the easy at home tests too?

I would say your temps have been consistently high since the 28th indicating ovulation a day or so before then. So likely ovulated 27th, could have been 26th.

It’s three consecutive high (high compared to your pre-ovulation) temps to confirm ovulation happened just before the rise.

Hi @Blue2020, only the CB ovulation kit highlighted a second surge on 25th Aug. I’ve noted 27th as a potential ovulation date too, so glad I’m not reading the results incorrectly.

In your opinion, would my temp have dropped below coverline if AF was due? Today I had ‘spotting’ (yellow/pink) on tissue when wiping although not enough on 2nd wipe. Usually before AF arrives I get a brown light spotting, not seen pink before.

Just waiting for AF to arrive now but BBT is giving me hope even though I feel BD wasn’t aligned to the second surge. Thanks x

Thanks @worldwidetravel2017, FRER pregnancy test was negative today and I’ve read that is a sensitive PT too. I did an LH test too today (easyathome) but it didn’t surge, came up as 0.40. I think it’s not going to happen for me this month x

@Heretolearnttc for me my temp usually dropped back to pre-ovulation level the day before AF would start.

Did you DTD within the 4/5 days - 23rd- 26/27th? Maybe the 22nd too it’s hard to say. If so it would cover you. Even just the once.

@Blue2020 sadly not. Last DTD date for this cycle was on 20th, so I’m really kicking myself as 1-2 days short as had DTD the full 5 days before what I thought was the initial ovulation date and then up to 20th. It’s ‘annoyingly funny’ how organised I thought I was, but Mother Nature had her own plans by pushing ovulation date back, haha. I’ve tried counting backwards and forwards trying to fit the last day we DTD to fall within the 4/5 days but I think we’re out by 2 days at least! Never mind! X

@Blue2020, the temp data is what has me confused about the ovulation date as I’m still +0.3 and 4 days late! I guess I’ll find out sooner or later. Thanks for your help x

@Heretolearnttc 20th is quite far away from the 26/27th. That said maybe there is someone out there who conceived from sperm staying around for 6 days? Its unlikely but maybe not impossible.
