TTC at 36 and uncertainty!

Hi all, hope everyone is doing okay.

I know i probably shouldn't get worked up, but i'm 36 and TTC. This is mine and my husbands 'second go' as last month we didn't 'do it' enough.

My breasts are really sore, even before PMS and i do feel like i'm moody, but i just don't know whether it pms or conception/early signs. It all feels very 'up in the air' so to speak. We've had sex a lot the past week or so, as its around ovulation!

How do you all deal with the uncertainty of all of this process? I try not to think about it too much. I only exercise once a week now, compared to 3 times a week at 2 hour Taekwondo sessions, just to give my body a bit of a breather incase it wants to do baby magic. My brain is just nagging me with thoughts!

Thanks all!

Re uncertainty - talk to friends / a counsellor / a baby charity etc

I've just concieved at 37 after properly trying for 2 months. It's uncertainty what ever age you try but remember the whole fertility falling off a cliff after 35 is a myth and the vast majority of women who will ttc at 36 will go on to concieve.

And I probably did everything you shouldn't do when ttc. Drank copious amounts of caffiene, didn't take any special vitamins, ate loads of white bread and even had a night out and still went onto concieve!

Hi OP, with my first born I conceived second cycle of trying, just before my 37th birthday - first sign I got in both pregnancies was sore boobs!
36 is pretty normal these days for people TTC.

You just have to put it to the back of your mind and remind yourself that it is normal to take up to a year even for healthy couples with no fertility issues, if it happens quicker amazing but don't beat yourself up it it doesn't.

I never tracked ovulation, just tried to live reasonably well and had regular sex through the whole month. Both pregnancies I didn't obsess and only tested once when I'd missed a period. It takes over your life otherwise and that has a detrimental effect on conceiving.

As for last month 'we didn't do it enough', it only takes once.

Good luck

Just had my first baby in July at 38.
18 years trying. Ours was an ivf pregnancy. Ttc really does test your strength. All I could do was just blank it out and try to get on with things to pass my time and take my mind of it. Is there anything you love doing

Started TTC at 35 and had my baby at nearly 37 after two early MCs. It was very hard but you take it day by day and get through it. For me my exercise routine (I did a lot), nature, meditation were life saving. Best of luck x
