Fifth cycle of trying, support needed!

Hi, we’re on the fifth cycle trying for our first. Feels like 6 cycles is a cut off point - past that, it’ll take at least a year. I know it doesn’t work like that but keep wondering if it’ll ever happen, or if there’s something wrong.

Any stories from people who got pregnant at 5th/6th cycle? Any tips so I can stop obsessively Googling symptoms during the 2WW? Do you “know” when it happens?

We’ve decided not to tell friends/family that we’re trying because we don’t want the pressure, but it means I have no one to talk to about all this.

I’m only on cycle one but would be intrigued to know about what people feel and how they ‘know’.sending love and baby dust xx

I got pregnant second time round on 6th cycle, ended in a M/C though. 18months later and now pregnant again with no2.

the GP wont investigate until 1 year of trying but I would give it a couple of months and at around 9months contact the GP as waiting lists are so long.

I conceived on 5th month, zero symptoms except a really painful bout of what felt like period pain that lasted for about ten mins on 7dpo. I think I deffo was symptom spotting in previous months just over thinking everything.

I conceived on the 6th cycle, then miscarried, then got pregnant again on the first cycle after that. Now we're expecting our second and conceived on the first cycle with this one.

Thank you, and best of luck 🤞 I’ve found ovulation tests worthwhile, I was originally just logging on a calendar but it was a few days out.

Sorry to hear about your M/C x thank you for the GP advice, I was thinking about contacting them at 6 months as my mum had trouble conceiving, I’m worried I’ve got the same issue

Glad to know I’m not the only one! And congrats 👏

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage, I didn’t realised how common they were until recently. Congrats on your second x

Gave up after 3, a combination of age and feeling broken. Yes I would have continued probably but would have a year's break. Xx

Yes been doing those.. although I kept thinking I had my peak and the next day would be darker so I think we missed the actual day of main peak.. grr! Keeping everything crossed but am realistic in knowing its rare to happen first time. Sending love & wishes xx

Sorry but I don’t get your logic at all: every cycle is another chance, it doesn’t cut off after 6 months? The more cycles. The more chances. It’s taken us 6 months each time, with a miscarriage in the middle. It never even crossed my mind to be worried, most people I know it’s taken 6-12 months. Just keep busy with your life and enjoying yourself. Don’t let it take over!

Yep, 1 in 4! Be prepared. More of my friends have had miscarriages than haven’t had them.

Thank you and best of luck to you. We ended up adopting a beautiful baby boy and he's our beloved child. It took time to accept I was unlikely to conceive naturally, although no fertility issues from either of us in tests. We love him, we're the family we always wanted to be, so please believe not giving birth doesn't mean you can never be a parent. Xx

I have two sets of friends who took 6-10months.

First friend: 6 months to conceive but ended in miscarriage,
second month after that resulted in dc,
then 10 months to conceive her second- resulted in twins.

The second friend: 8 months to conceive dc.

Good luck with your next cycle.

We are also heading into fifth cycle, aware it's not that long in the grand scheme of things but feels long! Hard not to panic when I feel like I read so much about people conceiving first try/within the first 3 cycles. But I am trying not to think like that and to just feel positive about this cycle.

Thank you - I think it’s like, it /still/ hasn’t happened, is it ever going to?

When you compare to people who have tried for years it doesn’t seem that long, but you’re right, it feels like forever from where I’m standing!
