MMC and TTC - cycles still not normal

Hi,

Looking for some advice. I had a MMC of twins end of may, thought everything was fine then at 12 week scan they showed only 5 weeks. Had to have medical management. Was pretty devastating and have been TTC 3 cycles since and nothing. Got pregnant by accident last time.
I used to have 28 day cycles and now I seem to ovulate different time each cycle and now my period is 3 days late (never been late by even a day before) but negative pregnancy test and it's making me worried. Everyone says cycles return to normal after 4 weeks or so. I know logically to give it time but every month is agony. Does anyone have any advice or similar experiences?
Thank you

Sorry for you loss @Empop92 I’m in a similar situation. Had a loss in November, and my cycles didn’t return to normal but I did still manage to get pregnant. That unfortunately ended in a loss end of April at 12wks, and I’ve only had 1 period since then. However my hcg didn’t get to 0 until July due to complications.
I’m yet to make an appointment with a GP as I’m sure they will say to give it more time. I know how frustrating it is

Hi @Empop92 sorry for your losses :( I can’t offer a huge amount of insight but know you’re not alone…
I’m in a very similar position, MMC end of May discovered at the 12 week mark, also TTC again and also confused / fed up with my cycles. Last month I was a day late (unheard of) and was convinced I was pregnant, alas, I was not. I’m just hoping that it’s only a matter of time before cycles return to normal? It’s rubbish, I know. Sending a virtual hug !

I had a mmc at the end of July 22. I’d always been a 28 day cycle and never late but my cycle was irregular for 3 months after. The first cycle it went back to normal I got pregnant again, I think it just takes time for everything to go back to normal xx

Thank you for your reply. I'm so sorry for your loss too. I didn't even know a missed miscarriage was a thing and it's such a huge shock. I think our bodies just need time to fully heal and become regular again and it will happen

Sorry to hear you've been through it @Empop92

I had a MMC in March and was still testing positive for 7, nearly 8 weeks after. My first bleed was at 7.5 weeks, still tested positive for a few days after, and I thought my period had finally returned. 18 days later, I bled again.

That second bleed, I ovulated and now I'm almost 16 weeks pregnant. It was a long and frustrating time. No one could tell me why it was taking so long to return to normal; I didn't have any retained tissue or anything.

Sometimes, the 4 weeks thing just isn't one size fits all.
