Cutting out alcohol whilst TTC?

Has anyone done this?

I haven’t until now - because I do enjoy wine at the weekend, and I know they say it can impact but equally want to enjoy living my life. BUT, I also really need to lose weight, and I started using an alcohol tracking app (drinkless) and was shocked by the calories. SO, I think I’m going to try a couple of months no-alcohol and see if I can lose some weight, and if it helps TTC that’s a big bonus!

I’m planning to do no alcohol and low carb - but allow myself one treat/cheat per week (be it a meal out or a glass or wine or something), so it’s about the general trend not being really strict with myself.

it sounds like it is very much in your best interests to cut out if you have a lot of weight to lose and your TTC

From a weight loss perspective not drinking alcohol regularly is a great idea - the calories add up so fast
My top tip for weight loss is not to have a "cheat" meal but to look at your whole diet across the week and eat predominantly healthy with a little of what you fancy. It helps suppress the urge to binge. Don't see any foods as bad or cheat foods, just foods you eat less of, less frequently, because they don't have the health benefits.

It's recommended to cut out alcohol whilst TTC, or at least very limited. It will be a big help with weight loss. I cut down to only 1/2 drinks a week whilst TTC.

thanks both. Yes I know sometimes having a great or chest isn’t a good idea, but I’ve never been able to diet or stick to something without “rules” and if there’s rules I need to Have an exception - I think it’s just different for different personality types! We’ll see anyway.

I did read quite a bit that said ideally you shouldn’t drink at all whilst TTC so hopefully it’ll help both fronts 🤞🏻
