Anyone else breastfeeding and ttc?

I’m currently breastfeeding my 20m old twice a day and ttc. We’re on cycle 4 this month… I’m hoping bfing isn’t making it hard tc as don’t feel ready to stop! Would love to hear similar stories xx

Yep I am, he’s 22 months and I’m wondering if this is why I’m not falling pregnant been trying since last Nov x

We’ve decided to not prevent from now. I’ve not had a period yet though so I could be waiting a while! When did both of your periods return? X

Yes! Well I’ve fully weaned now although I didn’t want to but desperate for a second! Been trying since December, periods returned in October when baby was 9 months old. I’ve been tracking bbt and I’ve only ovulated about 3 times since November and on those occasions had a luteal phase of about 4 days! Doesn’t seem to be improving either! My daughter was feeding 15 times a day and dropped to twice in hope that it would help, nothing, so eventually weaned and still nothing! I’m spotting between periods too so think it’s a hormone imbalance from breastfeeding!

I conceived twice while BFing- there is a 2 year 11 month gap between DS1 and DD1 and then a 3 year 4m gap between DD2 and DS2 (though I was a decade older to be fair!)
Period returned around about Childs second birthday so wasn’t long in conceiving tbh. And lovely age gaps.

Hi, I'm 10 weeks pregnant after a couple of months of trying, and I'm still feeding my 2 year old at least 5 times in 24 hours, so it is possible!

@Chloeeb my period returned after 12 months PP.

@Peonies94 so do you sometimes get your period without ovulation?

3 out of 4 of mine were (planned) conceived while I was still breastfeeding 🙂 also was breastfeeding while pregnant, although they all stopped around 20 weeks pregnant but I was open to the idea of tandem nursing but didn't need to

@Goldenape08 yes I think annovulatory cycles whilst breastfeeding are quite common but obviously some people ovulate/have children whilst breastfeeding. I think for me though I need to stop completely and allow my body some time to get back to normal, I think everyone is different though

@Goldenape08 were you feeding much at that point? I’m 13 months pp and nothing xx

@Chloeeb yes I was feeding on demand throughout the day but tried offering more solids so I think my LO was then feeding less

I managed to conceive while breastfeeding before I had my first period. Dd was 15 months when I conceived. She was feeding a lot through the night and a couple of times in the day. I was taking extra vitamins and eating a lot which I think helped.
