How would I know I’m ovulating without a period?

I am 11 months post partum, breastfeeding a 3 y/o and 11 month old and still don’t have my period back. I am so paranoid about getting pregnant so I bought some ovulation tests and I took one and it had a faint line. How would I know if I’m going to ovulate? So bloody confused!
it says on the instructions a faint line is negative but does this mean I have ovulated or that ovulation could be coming soon?

Do the tests over a series of days, the lines will get stronger close to ovulation and will be strongest when you are about to ovulate. It checks for a surge in the hormone LH which happens before ovulation. Google OPKs ovulation predictor kits. Some tests give you a smiley face when it's time.

If you're paranoid about getting pregnant, that sounds like you might be wanting to avoid another pregnancy now? I wouldn't rely on knowing when you ovulate to avoid a whoopsie in that case, and I'd choose another reliable method of contraception. Unless I misunderstood and you do want to get pregnant again!

I have a 3yo and a 16m old and can't fathom how another little cog would fit into our wheel house 😂

The lines will get darker and when you hit peak they will both be as dark as each other , use the Premom app and tests you can scan them in every day and keep track and it will pick out your peak. I always knew I was about to ovulate by my egg white discharge
