Hi @worldwidetravel2017 i definitely relate to this. Everyone I know either has kids or is pregnant. I have had 2 miscarriages and no children. I find coming on here to chat makes me feel a bit less alone.

How long have you been TTC for?

worldwidetravel2017 · 19/08/2024 11:53

Hey.

Thanks for replying

And so sorry to hear of your losses .

Re how long weve been trying -
The answer is complex.
We concieved last autumn 2nd cycle trying but then early miscarriage

Then we had to avoid concieving for 6/ 7 months as i had a ton of ' big health stuff ' go on.

Then since then - weve tried unsuccessfully approx 4 cycles...

We are under the fertility clinic - - i have pcos
( and tons of other conditions )

Always hear to chat..

Have you had investigations since your miscarriages?

I have low progsterone - common in pcos patients

Fertility clinic have said i can have vaginal progsterone if / as soon as i get a positive test next time
But ttc after loss is very very hard

@worldwidetravel2017 it just feels so unfair that some people can conceive so easily with no issues yet for others it’s this long, hard process.

My first loss was in November. And then my most recent loss was end April. The one in April was a partial molar pregnancy. I have an appt at the recurrent miscarriage clinic in November. But I’m trying to get pregnant in the meantime.

Due to the partial molar, my hcg levels were still high for a while, so my period didn’t return until mid July. I’m now on CD35 and no sign of another period or a positive test so I am feeling pretty low about it all.

Have you found the fertility clinic good?

worldwidetravel2017 · 19/08/2024 12:46

Have you been tested for pcos ?
I ask due to the long cycles

I highly recommend hertility health
Ive used them twice...
150 gbp
They test many things
They identified my pcos long before NHS did
They also test amh etc

Id recommend using them ^^ money very well spent.

Has your progsterone been tested 7 days after ovulation ?

Im on pregnacare for conception now - this will be my first full cycle that ive been on that the whole cycle - current fertility consultant recommended it

I was not happy with the first nhs fertility consultant - she rushed me and treated me just like a ' number '

The guy whos helping us now is older - more experienced and i feel heard

Feeling heard is so so important

They are suggesting flushing my tubes if we dont concieve this cycle

I have wondered about PCOS, but haven’t been tested for it. I was on the mini pill for about 14 years, and came off it last summer. And in that space of time I’ve had 2 pregnancies and the knock on effect of how it then affects cycles, so I feel like I have no idea what my ‘normal’ cycle would be. But it’s definitely something I’m thinking about exploring in the next month or so.

Thats interesting about hertility. I almost did it earlier this year but then got pregnant. And I’ve not done the progesterone test either, purely due to me not tracking my cycles at the moment so don’t know when/if I have ovulated already.

Thats good that you have a better consultant now. I have a friend who was trying for a baby for a while, had her tubes flushed & then got pregnant. Where in your cycle are you now?

I do really recommend hertility health

Also - current guidelines - NICE guidelines - state that with your miscarriage history - you are entitled to vaginal progsterone - as soon as u get a positive test - - Tommy's baby charity are good to talk to

If you have pcos / are found to have pcos - metformin and myo inostol can really help ..

You could ask your NHS gp to blood test shbg and free androgen
Re pcos.
Easy and ( free to you ) nhs bloods.
In pcos patients -
Shbg often low
Free androgen often high...

We are at baby making week / baby dancing week

Re ovulation - i can often tell when mine is without tracking with ovulation tests due to ovulation discharge and ovulation boobs..

Do consider querying pcos with NHS gp - its no bother for themto do those bloods

Did you get thyroid tested after losses ?

If not - id ask nhs gp to blood test thyroid too - easy for them to do.

Also very worth asking NHS gp to test your proclactin ( blood test )
If they havent yet

And testing progsterone etc..

Thanks for the recommendations. I don’t feel quite ready yet to start all the testing but definitely something I am thinking about later this year
