Tattoo - TTC - skip this month?

TTC and have a tattoo scheduled tomorrow. I was going to skip this cycle and resume next month. However my ovulation “window” on my app has just started and so will have 4 days Tues-Fri with good chance of falling pregnant. So if i have the tattoo tomorrow and then fell pregnant a few days after - would that be risky? I know you shouldnt have a tattoo whilst actually pregnant but if you were to get pregnant immediately after is there any risk? I know no one can say for sure. What would you consider doing? Would you still skip this month? Or not worry about it?

the tattoo parlour I am visiting has good infection control policies and I am Hep B vaccinated.

Tattoo or baby?! 🤔I can't believe you even need to ask

Snugglewuggle25 · 18/08/2024 11:14

What is it exactly you're worried about? Catching disease ie hep, hiv? Or other things? I mean if it was me and the tattoo is pretty big, I wouldn't be up to dtd, as tattoos make me bit fluey. 🙃 if you cancel, would you not lose your deposit? x

IOnlyNeedTheSilence · 18/08/2024 11:18

I don't tho I I'd have even thought about not doing it.

What's the risk to pregnant women with tattooing? I mean, you won't be pregnant at the time of the tattoo right?

I am not asking if I should chose a tattoo or a baby. I am getting the tattoo tomorrow.

I am asking if I should wait until next cycle as it is so close to me getting the tattoo, or if I can still give it a try this month.

I’d get the tattoo and continue TTC without giving it a second thought!

Getting tattooed makes me SO tired though, so not sure I’d fancy a shag after 😂

I’m not sure what I am worried about tbh!
I am just worried as I know you cant get a tattoo once you are pregnant.

If we weren’t TTC I wouldn’t be worried about healing or infection in general.
I know there is no real risk (or at least research/known risk) to the baby from a tattoo if I was to catch.
I cant really find any info on how long after a tattoo its safe to conceive and as this would be literally the next day or so I try I am a bit worried. And I know its silly because I might not even catch this time 🤣

I won’t cancel the tattoo as yes would lose the deposit and it is booked now. I will probably just wait until next cycle just in case.

No I wont be pregnant tomorrow 🤩
I know. I think you cannot get a tattoo during pregnancy in case of infection etc.

🤣 thank you
yes this is my 4th tattoo but this will be the biggest one, my others were only 1 hour or so whereas I will need to sit 4-5 hours for this one. Not sure how I will feel afterwards haha!!

Even with your ovulation window started actual conception might take a few days. I wouldn't worry about it.

🤣🤣🤣 yes this exactly!! Having a bit after a 4 hour tattoo session! No thanks. I would just have the tattoo, maybe even have a quickie tonight as sperm lives inside you for days, they need to be waiting for the egg. And if u do concieve this month then the tattoo with be a wonderfully reminder! There's no rules for tattoo and early pregnancy, (but ur not preg yet so....) just the tattoo parlours covering their back incase anyone was to miscarry and they blamed the tattooist. Go for it x

Bigyellowhair · 18/08/2024 12:21

Thank you everyone 🤩
I am clearly overthinking this!

The only very small risk here is that your body sends its first responders to heal the area (as it's essentially an open wound and is the reason people can feel fluey afterwards), this can potentially delay ovulation slightly until your body is sure it's up to it.
Otherwise completely harmless and nothing to worry about!

Slightly different but I had a piercing and found out I was pregnant the next day 🙈. All was ok x

However, it did get infected not sure if pregnancy had anything to do with that though.

I'm in the two week wait and got a tattoo yesterday. I've had it booked for months and went through with it anyway, as long as studio is clean I see no issues x

You also might want to Google what toxins are in tattoo ink (grim) before considering having that shit injected into yourself and then conceiving a tiny baby that absorbs everything that you do.

IOnlyNeedTheSilence · 18/08/2024 19:44

Assuming the OP gets pregnant this very minutes, it'll be 8-12 weeks before the placenta takes over...

Glad to help! Also, it's not 'catching' a baby, it's 'conceiving'. Again, glad to help! 😂By the way, you asked the question if it's safe. Why ask, if you don't like an answer that doesn't suit your narrative? Maybe you should get off your high horse and do some proper research. Anyway, happy tattin'! Hope you don't catch anything any time soon... 😚

Anonaust · 21/08/2024 05:12

OP ignore the absolute trolls 🤣🤣 like you can't live your life whilst trying for a baby 🙄

Tattoo will be fine as long as not already pregnant.

I am heavily tattooed, each to their own, I also have 4 children who are the absolute picture of health ☺️
