BBT towards period

Hello,

I am just wondering what everyone’s bbt looks like closer to their period? Mine has stayed above baseline since ovulation but hasn’t had any dramatic rises. I will attach a pic but I am well aware I had 3 days off temping due to going away so may not be 100% accurate! What is going on here?? :)

How many dpo are you? My temp only drops the day before my period so stays up for around 11 days

Mine starts trending downwards 2 days before my period (so for me that's around 12 dpo and 13 dpo it's going down) and it's only on the day I start bleeding that it drops below the coverline. .

Looking at your chart, it looks too early to tell much yet but it looks like a pretty standard luteal phase. Good luck though, hope you get the outcome you're hoping for.

I’m 9 or 10 dpo today! I’m just clueless as to how to read it and it’s driving me mad hahah

Unfortunately you seem to be missing some temps so it’s impossible to pinpoint ovulation. It’s clear you have but when is unclear. When are you due AF?

Oh, 🙈 unless the circle thing is ovulation? I’m so sorry. I’m not familiar with this chart style and got a bit confused for a moment 🙈

I'm not sure how you got ovulation from CD19 though? You've had no temp shift by that day. What method are you using? Are you following TCOYF rules? It's difficult to confirm temp shift with the missing temps. What generally gives a more consistent luteal phase for you - temps or CM?

pdav123 · 16/08/2024 20:36

Hello, this is my first month using bbt and I’m not being strict over it which is why I don’t really care about the fact there are days missing. I’m guessing it’s CD 19 as this was after my peak and the first real spike in my temp. Unfortunately I went away and didn’t continue with bbt until after I came back but it has consistently stayed about this baseline since then so I am assuming ovulation occurred then.

I'm afraid the only way to get bbt to work is to be very strict with it, temp everyday at about the same time and before you get up and have made minimal movement.

MelonZebra · 16/08/2024 22:38

Ahh I get you. Yes I think you're right about CD19 as temp shift appears to start on CD20. But yes as daisypod says it only works if you're strict about it otherwise temps are essentially meaningless - I'm currently charting to avoid (shortly switching to TTC) so need to be more strict but honestly temps can be so jumpy if you're not consistent with them. 3 temps above your coverline would confirm ovulation but the missing temps mean you can't be sure. Cover lines can be drawn if you have a temp 0.1 degrees C above the previous 6 temps and cover line goes 0.05 degrees above the highest of those 6 temps. At least that's the rule if you follow taking charge of your fertility.

You don't necessarily need a dramatic rise. There's a really good Facebook group for fertility awareness method that also has a sister group, FAM journeys which is great for seeing charts for TTC.

This is the main group if you're interested in seeing more charts. There's also a Reddit equivalent as well if that's more your thing.
