OPK Tracking

Hi everyone,

I’m on my third cycle trying to conceive following two chemicals early this year and decided to give OPKs a hit as I’ve always assumed, rather than known, when I’m ovulating.

I’m on CD15 of a 29 day cycle and, unless I’ve missed it, I’ve not peaked yet. This would certainly explain struggling to fall pregnant as we normally stop BDing around CD16 and assume the hard work is done.

When do others ovulate? Is there a chance that the only slightly higher OPK on CD13 was in fact the start of a surge and I’ve missed it or should I keep testing?

Thanks so much x

Hi @LovingMamaWifeTeacher i would keep testing as it looks like you are ovulating later. I’ve had 2 MC so find that my cycles are longer after that, so to cover all bases I dtd every 2-3 days to make sure I catch the ovulation

From those it looks like you have not ovulated yet.

My cycle is 31/32 and usually ovulate on day 18/19.

I usually ovulate CD 17/18, it depends how long your cycle usually is.

Thanks all! I guess it’s just ignorance from me. I’ve always assumed it MUST be CD14/15 and looked for signs like CM. It’s proof that CM alone isn’t evidence enough.

It looks like we just continue having fun - I’m sure my husband won’t complain!

I’ve continued testing and got a stronger line this morning but still not the same colour as the control line. I’ve tested several times today to try and catch the peak but it’s got lighter and lighter to the point it is barely there this evening. All tests have been on a decent hold. Feeling very confused and unsure whether to stop testing and fixating on this.

Just for anyone watching/returning to this thread, I have continued to test knowing that I haven’t ‘caught’ my peak, despite usually having a 29 day cycle. Tests have continued to decline but I got EWCM yesterday evening and a slightly stronger test this morning. I’m now on CD21 and I think I’ve caught it! My husband looks slightly despondent at being called into action again (we did BD last night!). Now to see when/if AF arrives as I have no idea on luteal phase. If it arrives on time, it may be a GP trip needed!

I'm in pretty much the same situation.
Cycles are usually 35 days ovulate on day 21. I am day 30 today and only got my peak yesterday, we did a lot of BD around day 21 so hubby wants best pleased for his "new appointments" 🙈

I had an upset stomach and the flu earlier this cycles so think that knocked it off 😬

LovingMamaWifeTeacher · 20/08/2024 16:28

Interesting that you’re in the same situation @SarahFlower - I’ve been scouring mumsnet trying to make sense of my OPKs as it’s my first cycle testing!

Haha, my husband said ‘well now the pressure is on me to perform’. Hunny, I track the cycle, take the supplements, monitor my LH surge, watch my diet, research the does and don’t a. I’m not asking for much! 👀🤣

Hahaha they make it sound like such a chore!

I'd previously been tracking but not TTC, this is our first month TTC. So holding out much hope but felt really down about not ovulating but to get a positive yesterday, I think I jumped for joy 😂

LovingMamaWifeTeacher · 20/08/2024 16:51

@SarahFlower haha, love this! Praying for a successful first cycle for you!

We have a daughter together already and have been TTC since January. We’ve had two CPs and a short break to allow my body to recover from that and then two unsuccessful cycles. If my luteal phase isn’t short and this levels out, I’ll be kicking myself for not starting to track earlier!
