Getting Pregnant After Depo Injection

So I've already had 2 children, and I thought I was finished, so I was using the depo injection long term. My periods had stopped completely for around 7 years!

My children are now 17 and 13, and I am 37 this week. Me and my new partner have decided we would like another baby before it's too late.

My last injection was early January 2024, which should have ran out early April 2024. Since then my bleeding has been all over the place, lasting weeks at a time initially, but now seem to be moving towards a trackable cycle. But it's difficult to predict my fertile window.

So we're not using any form of protection and just having sex regularly, as we have no idea when my fertile window is.

Has anyone been through a similar experience after stopping the injection? And any suggestions are very welcome.

Btw love this group, I feel like I have a support group at my fingertips, you are all amazing 🩶

I could have wrote this myself, literally! I came off my depo in January and also TTC!

i had nothing up until May when it was like a period every 2 weeks and then only just started having periods again in a normal(ish) cycle (thanks to using conception plus ovulation support)

honestly I’m at my whits end about it! Been trying and trying and I know they say when you relax and stop “trying” it usually happens. But it’s just really bugging me 😭

Ive also tried ovulation strips for the last 2 months and never had a single positive. It’s just bizarre ❤️

not on your own tho lovely xxxx

After depo (like you, periods stopped completely), it took 9 months to get a positive. I was shocked because every other time (after the mini pill) I caught in the first 1-2 months. Can't say for definite it was the depo but I do think it was!

I have always experienced very irregular cycles and my partner and I had been TTC for 4 months. I know that doesn't sound like a long time in most people's eyes and I am aware it's not, but we all know the feeling of wanting something so bad that everyday it's always on your mind.

It could be coincidence but I started taking pregnacare before conception at the start of our 4th month and for someone that has cycles between 34-52 days, that month I felt ovulation pains on CD13, randomly took an OPK and it was positive! This was the month we fell pregnant and I genuinely credit the pregnacare for balancing my hormones and giving me a much shorter cycle but also maybe I was more relaxed because I wasn't stressing so much about finding my ovulation and testing daily with negative results?

Warning - I've read that pregnacare before conception can lengthen some people's cycles but felt that mine were already so long it was worth taking the risk!

Wishing you all the luck! 🍀

Nurse here

It can take quite a while for periods ( and fertility ) to return to normal after Depo- provera

Nothing unusual , good luck 🤞🏻

I'm having regular periods now, and my ovulation should be next week so 🤞🏻🤞🏻

How are you getting along hun?

My cycles have been regular now since September, and still nothing yet 😢😢

I've just started bleeding again today, I'm getting so worried and frustrated, especially due to my age xx

Hey lovely,

still no positive for ovulation strips let alone pregnancy test 😭 got my period 4 days ago. Was heartbroken. Just feel so emotionally drained. Felt so so confident this month. Boobs were aching, practically baby danced every day 😭❤️

im still taking ovulation support by conceive plus and maca root.

I’ve wrapped a baby blanket up and put it under the Christmas tree like the old wives tale says 😭❤️

praying for a Christmas miracle for us both 😭❤️

Rachel313 · 02/12/2024 19:07

Aww bless you! I was hoping you had some good news to keep me hopeful 😢

I've never bothered with the ovulation strips tbh, it looks like you have to do them like 4 times a day to catch the right moment, which is crazy lol!

I've been the same the last couple of months, been 100% certain I've caught, boobs hurting, feeling sick, but nevertheless my period still comes.

I might try the conceive plus again, I had them for a month earlier in the year but didn't feel they made much difference.

Well at least we know what Santa is bringing us now 🤰🏻🤰🏻🥰!

Keep me updated beaut, we're in this together 💪🏻🥰 xxx

Quick update.....

I've just purchased the Clearblue Fertility Monitor as an early Christmas present to myself. It's only just arrived so can't comment on it's effectiveness, but it seems like a good piece of kit, and I'm feeling really hopeful again 🤞🏻🥰

How are you doing hun, any updates?

I've been using that Clearblue fertility monitor, and it's detected a LH surge this morning, it's the first confirmation I've had that I'm still ovulating!

Hope your doing well 💜

Have you!? Oh that’s bloody amazing!! ❤️

I really thought we’d fallen over Christmas, sore boobs, was 4 days late and then Boxing Day night my period came. Heartbroken yet again but this months a new month 😭🙏🏼 I’m still taking the ovulation support and using the flo app to monitor.
