Hello, so my long story made short ... we started ttc in October 2022, fell pregnant right away, but had a mmc, then fell pregnant again last year but another mmc in August last year, so I am now on cycle 13 ttc since then and thought some company and a safe place to rant/ chat... or even share some positive experiences would be nice. 🙂

Hi @Ladyinpink1 i have been TTC for 1 year now, but with 2 miscarriages in that time.
I came off the pill in June 2023, found out I was pregnant beginning of October, and then by end November had a MC. Then this year I had another found at the 12wk scan which ended up as a partial molar.
I have no children & it feels like everyone around me gets pregnant so easily with no complications.
I’m sorry you are having a rough time. It’s an awful place to be

Ladyinpink1 · 10/08/2024 17:11

Hi @Figtree11 I recognise your name ...from a miscarriage thread maybe. I'm so sorry for your losses, it's just so frustrating isn't it. How long has it been since your last miscarriage? Where are you in your cycle? I am 2dpo x

@Ladyinpink1 thank you - yeah it must be from some of the miscarriage threads I’ve been active on. My last one was beginning of May, but I only got discharged from the specialist molar hospital a couple of weeks ago. It’s taken over 2 months just to get to negative hcg. So my cycles are still all over the place at the moment. I have started trying again but not tracking as I find it stressful with having long & erratic cycles following MC.

When is it that you will test this cycle?
I’m trying different things this time round, like acupuncture & different supplements

Ladyinpink1 · 10/08/2024 19:22

That must have been very frustrating having to wait so long when I'm sure all you wanted to do was try again ASAP. Hoping your cycles are more normal from now.
I will prob try not to test and just wait for my period as I find I go a but crazy with the testing and becomes very stressful. What new supplements are you trying? I have added oil of primrose until ovulation and vitex also this cycle.
Ooh have you had an acupuncture session yet? I have never tried it x

OP posts:
Figtree11 · 10/08/2024 19:54

@Ladyinpink1 yeah it was really frustrating, but I guess it has given me some time to try & feel a bit better in myself. As if I was to get pregnant again, I will be so so anxious and I wouldn’t have been ready for that before.

Last time I just did folic acid & a conception vitamin. But I’m now doing folic acid, omega 3, coq10 and high strength vitamin d.
Yeah I have had 3 acupuncture sessions so far. I’d read it could also help with regulating cycles. I’ve no idea if it’s doing anything! But just wanted to feel in control of something. And I do find it quite relaxing.

I think it’s best to wait to test until AF is due. Once my cycles are regular I will do that too. In the meantime I might test every 2 weeks or so while waiting for my next period to come (only had 1 since the MC 2 weeks ago)

Are you looking at getting any tests or anything? After this second one I managed to get referred to recurrent miscarriage clinic all thanks to tommys campaign for being seen after 2 and I’m kind of in the area. I have that appt in November

Ladyinpink1 · 11/08/2024 17:35

I'm glad you are feeling a bit more ready now. I am on the same supplements as you, thinking If we do eventually fall preg again, then the coq10 especially should have made for a healthier egg and so more likely to last. I was trying to eat healthier but I keep yoyoing with that (I am in the chip shop waiting on my food right now 😂) is the acupuncture sore at all?

I say I will wait to test, but we will see. Lol I have heard omega can be really good at regulating cycles and hormones too so hoping you see a regular pattern very soon.

That's great, November wont be long coming around, yes, I have had the recurrant miscarriage tests. And then very recently phoned GP and he had all the hormone levels tested, estrogen, ovulation etc too and everything came back good, which I found good but frustrating because there is nothing I can change if you know what I mean. Have you tried your GP for some extra tests while you wait? x

Figtree11 · 11/08/2024 19:39

@Ladyinpink1 thats what I thought about the coq10, can’t do any harm to try anything you can.
I find the acupuncture ok, most of the time I don’t feel the needles even really going on. Just the odd time I’ve felt it. I can’t say I am convinced it will do anything, but I feel it helps put me in a better mindset.

Haha love that about the chip shop - we had a Chinese last night! Last pregnancy I cut out all caffeine and was so careful about everything. But it still ended in loss so I’m just living my life a bit more now instead, as if it’s meant to work out it will. People have babies in all sorts of different & challenging circumstances.

Thats good about the tests, but totally get how frustrating it would be. When I found out my last loss was a partial molar, as much as it was really scary, and the worry of it happening again, it was good to actually know the reason for that loss.
I haven’t had any other tests at the GP, but my acupuncturist mentioned it to me too. I think if I don’t get pregnant in the next few months or get a regular cycle back I’ll give them a ring. I wasn’t sure if they would see me just yet, but it has been over 3 months now

Ladyinpink1 · 12/08/2024 08:42

I did the same last pregnancy, I was so careful and it still ended in a loss and as you said it's better to try to relax some instead. When was your last period? Have you had any signs of fertile cm or anything else yet the past few days?
I'm sure it was really scary. Are the chances low of it happening again them?
Yes definitely if you tell the GP how long since you very first started ttc is a year then I can't see why not.. hopefully you don't get to that stage though. x

OP posts:
Figtree11 · 12/08/2024 17:00

@Ladyinpink1 my last period started 4 weeks ago. I haven’t really had any signs of ovulation so I don’t think it’s happened yet. After my first loss I ovulated around CD35-40. And I’m currently on CD29. So I think it will be while off unfortunately.

With the partial molar, it’s a 1 in 600 chance of it happening for anyone, and so now for me it’s a 1 in 100 chance of happening again. Which is small odds, but I feel like I’m always on the wrong side of statistics with never having had a viable pregnancy!

How are you getting on? X

Ladyinpink1 · 12/08/2024 21:43

Hoping for you that you don't have as long to wait this time. It's just constant waiting with ttc isn't it. We should be the most patient people now... I'm still not thought lol

I think your chances would be low of it happening again for you but au can understand it always being a worry, good that you are on the coq10 etc now too, that will make for a healthy egg.

I am ok, on 4dpo today and trying (and not succeeding) to not over analyse every tiny twinge, I def think the tww is the most stressful part of ttc x

OP posts:
Figtree11 · 13/08/2024 18:43

Yeah the waiting is just unbearable. I feel like every day is like a week. I feel like I think about everything all of the time & struggle to not let it occupy my thoughts.

It’s so hard not to think negatively isn’t. Are you trying to conceive your first baby?

When do you think you’ll start testing this cycle?

Ladyinpink1 · 13/08/2024 22:05

So unbearable ❤️.
This is ttc my third, but I am not ready to give up just yet.
I will try so hard to hold off and not test x

Figtree11 · 14/08/2024 07:58

Keep me updated how you get on 🤞🏻

Haylsttc · 18/08/2024 11:39

Hi @Ladyinpink1 we used to chat on a miscarriage thread last year. Sorry to see you’re still trying too.

I haven’t really been on mumsnet since January as I found ttc was consuming my life so I made the decision to stop tracking ovulation etc. However it’s now been just over a year since I had a MMC and we haven’t been able to conceive since. Although it’s sad I’m just glad the year is up and we’re going to see our GP this month to start fertility tests.

Ladyinpink1 · 18/08/2024 14:30

Hi @Haylsttc yes I recognise your name from our other thread, nice to see you back but also at the same time, I'm really sorry to see you are still trying. How do you feel being back on here? Are you trying anything different this cycle?
I just had a bfn, my period is due on Thursday so I will be moving onto cycle 14. I have decided to ditch the bbt and opks this next cycle and 'try' not to focus too much on it. I have had tests since we last spoke and everything is good, no issues with hormones, etc so really there is no reason it shouldn't be happening 🤷‍♀️ x

Haylsttc · 21/08/2024 17:25

@Ladyinpink1 I came back on here to look for other people’s experiences of their appointments/tests after 12 months+ ttc after miscarriage. What tests did you have done and did they not offer anything else after the tests?

We’ve decided to continue not tracking unless we’re told we have to for medication or test purposes.

Let me know how ditching the opks goes for you! I found it difficult not to revert to old habits the first cycle of not using them but it got much easier after that 😊

Ladyinpink1 · 22/08/2024 18:22

I had recurrent miscarriage tests, which were blood tests, maybe 9 of them if I remember. Then recently I called the GP and said it had been a year of trying, he tested estrogen, progesterone, Luteinizing hormone, prolactin and FSH. All of these came back good and so I never heard anything more... I assumed it's because I am definitely ovulating every month then there isn't anything they would/could do to help... I really don't know much about whether there would be another step.

Have you asked your GP for some hormone tests or anything? x

OP posts:
Haylsttc · 23/08/2024 15:28

@Ladyinpink1 I’m glad your tests came back good but sorry they didn’t offer you anything further. Would they not refer you to your local fertility clinic? I would definitely get back in touch with your GP and ask.

Our GP is doing a few tests like day 21 bloods. We’ve also been referred to our local fertility clinic for further testing and if it comes to it IVF.

I’m happy with the outcome, still hoping for a miracle that we fall pregnant in the meantime while we wait but if we don’t I’m confident we will eventually with the fertility clinics help.

Ladyinpink1 · 24/08/2024 22:51

I don't think I would be eligible for anything as I already have dc @Haylsttc but I will def get in touch with GP, thank you.
I hope it happens before then (you hear lots of stories of ladies getting their bfp just before the first fertility appointment) but it's so good you have a plan in place, Do you feel different and better knowing that now? x

OP posts:
Haylsttc · 26/08/2024 09:13

@Ladyinpink1 oh I’m sorry to hear that, that seems unfair, I would definitely still get back in touch and ask just in case they might allow you.

Fingers crossed it happens naturally before but if not I feel so much more positive about the situation now. Just need to sit tight and wait now as I think it’s a five month waiting list for our local fertility clinic!

Ladyinpink1 · 26/08/2024 21:45

I will get in touch again, thank you @Haylsttc . I bet you won't wake the 5 months and you will get good news before then, I definitely think feeling happier and more relaxed at having a plan helps make happy eggs 😊
Dh and I had a good chat and have decided that we will put a limit on ttc, maybe give it another 6 months then I will get a pet instead 😂 sounds silly but I feel better (although ask me again in 6 months) Also I am not tracking my periods on my app or anything so going to keep my CD very vague in my mind so that I don't get that feeling of pressure when I'm ovulating or the overthinking in the tww... well that's the plan anyway... sorry that was a really long message x
