Hello didn't want to read and run... I had one last month. I can honestly say that it was painful but it was over very quickly. I have read lots of threads on here where people say it wasn't painful at all so I really think it's quite personal! The first bit feels just like a smear which didn't bother me, the only bit I found painful was when they passed the catheter through my cervix. Like I say, it was over in a matter of seconds and the whole thing lasted less than 10 minutes. Take paracetamol & Ibuprofen half an hour before and take a panty liner as the dye has to come back out afterwards! Good luck X

Hi I had one and got my answer for the Fertility issues as well.
it was uncomfortable bit more then a smear. they did manage to particularly unblock one of my tubes and that ment pumping quite a bit of dye through and I found that uncomfortable but over all well worth it and relatively quick

I had one recently as part of my fertility investigations. It was uncomfortable for the first part, like a smear but took way longer and they cleaned the cervix etc, not pleasant. I had bad cramping pain when they put the dye in too and more mild cramps on and off the rest of the day. Some women feel basically no pain, some feel loads, it's very personal. The doctors were lovely and caring throughout, if you get offered one I'd recommend getting it done in spite of the discomfort/pain.

It wasn't pleasant but totally worth it as it cleaned out my tube and meant I could get pregnant!

I find smears worse.

It was a bit uncomfortable but nothing awful. I didn't have any issues with tubes so I was very pleased to have the procedure. Got pregnant the month after. I was 35 and had been trying for 8 months

Gives your tubes a good clear out if nothing else!

Just to bring different light, I had one done and didn't find it painful - a little uncomfortable but no more than a smear. It seems everyone has different experiences. Take some paracetamol before just in case :) regardless its quick!
