TTC after loss part 5

Ella31 · 04/08/2024 18:18

Just continuing our old thread. I've added anyone who has asked to stay on here. As always, anyone who is trying after a loss is welcome to join and those who have been lucky since are welcome to encourage those who are still waiting for their rainbow (if you want to stay of course )

Also for the next thread, I'm going to let someone else take over creating the new one if people don't mind. I've a lot on at the moment with tests and I'm back to work in the next few weeks after my bereavement leave with my boys. So if anyone would like to take the mantle, feel free.

Im 2dpo today and have another ultrasound on Wednesday to see if follicle has burst followed by pdg blood test.

Welcome to the thread @Babydust99

@moosey89 i’m sorry about the bfn. I had one on Friday. Looking at a blank space is horrible. I spent over 2 months waiting for the second line to fade earlier this month, and wishing it would turn negative after the molar. Yet back again waiting for it to go positive. Really plays with your mind

@Superscientist no they havent done any additional tests so I am paying to see a specialist next month. They just sent me home with a script for aspirin to start immediately and blood thinning injections for when I next get a bfp. I want to know if it is primary or secondary incase something is causing it. I've not heard of the sticky blood book I will try and find it. I have lots of support from my mum and dp thankfully

This was the book I read (link at the bottom), I can't remember how much was on pregnancy loss exactly as I was reading it for stroke and heart attack risk. I seem to recall that this was a minor part

Have they tested you for lupus? This was how APS was first identified in the 1980s Dr Hughes a prominent lupus Dr noticed a sub group of patients with lupus had thick blood and were prone to blood clots. He then found you could have this and not have lupus.

It is a relatively new condition and my dad found it was poorly understood. They didn't know what to do with him especially as most people identify as having aps were women trying to get pregnant. He was bounced from hospital department to hospital department and this was how his blood tests that identified him as having APS went missing. When they retested he was normal. We don't know now if he never had aps or whether it has gone dormant. He's been off the warfarin now for 3 years and just on aspirin as hasn't had any further clotting events since his minor stroke in 2013/2014.

The appointment with a specialist will hopefully give you some answers but it's not fair that you have been left without for so long.

Morning all, sorry for everyone going through loss again and experiencing BFN. Having got a BFN on Tuesday I thought I was out but tested again yesterday and it’s positive. Slightly in shock. Still very early days and only too aware a BFP doesn’t equal a baby but feel cautiously excited at the moment. Hopefully third time lucky.

Onthedouble123 · 25/08/2024 09:35

Lovely news @HerbaceousPerennial! Cautious congratulations and fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻💕💕💕

Thanks. I'm not sure if I've been tested for Lupus or not but I know all my other tests were normal. It's just the Cardiolipin IGG that was high. Hopefully will get a bit more of an insight next month

Congratulations @HerbaceousPerennial and welcome @Babydust99! I'm out too, despite thinking I might have ovulated last weekend AF has arrived... I feel like I've been bleeding continuously for 7 weeks 😭 i still have the iron supplements my midwife gave me when I was pregnant, so you think there's any harm in taking them till my cycle settles down? I'm shattered.
I had a lovely conversation with a lady at church this morning. She'd had a miscarriage at 16 weeks 41 days ago and her experience sounds barbaric, so different from what had happened to me. She was left on a ward full of pregnant women and told not to make such a fuss and treated as if she'd just had a period afterwards. Made me so thankful for the work of miscarriage charities and SANDS. But at the same time, she still mourns her baby despite managing to live a full life afterwards, I found that comforting.

Ladyinpink1 · 25/08/2024 14:34

Wow @HerbaceousPerennial that's brilliant news ❤️, I'm happy to read this and makes me feel hopeful too as we were on a similar timeline xx

DonnaWhat · 25/08/2024 15:27

@EmTTC2 No, nothing, I've only just had bloods done Friday and today for hcg so will find out more next week. I had to chase them all last week for those.

@HerbaceousPerennial Congratulations, fingers crossed for a sticky bean. 3rd time lucky for me too 🤞

@Figtree11 How are you, where are you in your cycle now? Xxx

Figtree11 · 25/08/2024 16:57

@HerbaceousPerennial that’s amazing! Congrats. We literally only spoke a couple of days ago about long cycles. I really hope this works out well for you

@MrsS11 I’m sorry AF has arrived 😞

@DonnaWhat thanks for checking in, CD42 and no period yet but also not pregnant. Last time I got pregnant, it would be in another weeks time I got the positive test. So I know I’m going to be disappointed this time next week if still nothing. Hope you’re ok

DonnaWhat · 25/08/2024 17:42

@Figtree11 I'm doing OK. That's a long cycle, are they regulated long cycles? You never know though. If af rears her ugly head then you have a fresh new cycle 🤞 I have everything crossed for you xxx

Figtree11 · 25/08/2024 18:11

@DonnaWhat i don’t know what my cycles are - was on the pill for years and since coming off a year ago I’ve had 2 pregnancies which have thrown everything off. So just a case of waiting really

Been out the chat for a while so I’m sorry for those experiencing loss and congratulations to those having their BFP.
Got some blood results back. Everything is normal and in range. I’m just waiting for cycle day 21 for another test to see if I actually ovulate otherwise who knows why I can’t get pregnant.
my OH is going to get tested too.
What vitamins do you girls take and is it helpful?
My cycle is already regular to the day so not sure what I’m doing wrong.

moosey89 · 25/08/2024 19:57

@Beanie14 sorry you're having a difficult time. How long have you been trying for? It's so hard but for some of us it just takes a really long time and there's nothing "wrong" that they find, and you're not doing anything wrong. We're just unlucky xx

Beanie14 · 25/08/2024 20:11

@moosey89 my son is 3 in 2 weeks and we’ve been actively trying 9 months now. What about you?
I know others have been trying for much longer but I’m just finding it so hard at the moment. Seems like every post I see is pregnancy related and there’s pregnant people everywhere!
We had a chemical in July but other than that nothing!

Babydust99 · 25/08/2024 21:47

CD1 for me cycle no. 25 🥴 we are going to pay for testing in the new year if nothing by then. We've both started taking proceive max. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm on aspirin for sticky blood, no bfps in last 12 months and previous to that had 4 early losses in just over a year

moosey89 · 25/08/2024 21:49

@Beanie14 yeah that feeling sucks when it looks like everyone else is getting pregnant so easily and right in front of you!
My journey is a little complicated, 2.5 years TTC and a miscarriage with my ex, 2.5 year break, 1yr 8 months TTC with my current partner, 2 miscarriages. Not very lucky unfortunately 🙈 I'm so tired of the whole journey. Not sure how much I have left in me!

Beanie14 · 25/08/2024 21:59

@moosey89 oh Im so sorry to hear that! What a stressful and emotional journey. I have everything crossed that you don’t have to wait much longer.
have you had any testing?
I’m so so grateful to have my son but it makes me so sad that the gap between him and a sibling gets bigger and bigger all the time.

we just have to keep the faith that things happen for a reason xx

I feel exactly the same. Feel like I've no hope left anymore. It's been a long and hard journey with no progress

Same here, my hope is pretty much zero. Can’t actually ever imagine having a baby

How long have you been ttc and have you had any testing done?

moosey89 · 25/08/2024 22:12

@Beanie14 sooooo many tests and they're all normal. Feels worse than being told there's an issue, at least that way we would know, if that makes sense?
I know it is hard, but there's lots of threads on the board from ladies worried about age gaps, and tons of reassuring replies from other ladies who have had to wait longer than they thought/originally would have liked. I really hope it happens soon for you though - it's hard when life turns out differently to what you thought or would.

Also - please remember you can be so grateful for what you have, and sad for what you don't, both at the same time. It's not just one feeling or the other but it can be so difficult to manage them both together!xx

How long have you been ttc and have you had any testing done?

Just over a year. 1 MMC and 1 partial molar pregnancy. I have an appt at the recurrent miscarriage clinic in a few months
