TTC expectations in the TWW

Hi all,

I am trying to stay calm and relaxed during ttc again since our loss in March 24. We are simply having regular sex every other day from cycle day 9-20 in the hope of hitting ovulation. This worked the first time after about 7 months ttc. No luck yet, but I am trying to stay positive even though this whole journey has been quite heartbreaking.

I just wondered if anyone else could tell me what I should expect to feel during the tww or their stories? Everytime it gets to about half way through the week, I can feel my progesterone symptoms kicking in and then feel like I’m out. Is it normal to feel the normal pms symptoms even if pregnant.

I am trying really hard to believe our rainbow is on the way, it’s just a bit lonely sometimes. 🌈

Thank you xxx

Hiya, So sorry for your loss earlier this year. We are TTC our second and have had two losses this year and now in about our 7th month so I am with you!

What helps me in the TWW (and we're all different of course!) is to keep really busy and distract myself, it's almost like you have to trick your body into forgetting you're TTC to not put any pressure on it 😂 - I find it impossible not to over analyse symptoms etc. but I just remind myself that what will be will be and there's nothing I can do (sadly) to influence the outcome...

It's a really intense time - physically, emotionally and mentally, so be kind to yourself and if you find it helpful (I do) talk to your partner and friends as much as you like about what you're going through.

Lots of luck and baby dust to you x

@ALM2207

Thank you for your lovely reply ❤️. I am so sorry for both of your losses and really admire your positivity within it all. I feel only now that I’m starting to heal from mine, it takes time doesn’t it! It really is a difficult journey and I am working hard not to compare myself with others who seem to be breezing through.

Thank you, yes I have noticed the times I’ve distracted myself during the TWW are the ones I’m less disappointed in when my period arrives. And the reality is, symptoms of pregnancy don’t really begin until after a missed period anyway. The mind has funny ways of playing tricks! You’re right, what will be will be, I can’t control the outcome but can control how I react to it all… if not this month, maybe next month will be ours :)

Sending you love and baby dust back 🌟 it’ll be our times soon.

xx

I didn't feel any different in those cycles I was pregnant, to when I wasn't. Genuine pregnancy symptoms wouldn't show until your period is late, as HCG is only really starting to rise at that point. Before that it's likely the same symptoms as non-pregnant (because of progesterone rise). It took us longer to conceive after a MC, I think that's quite common - GP told me that any length pregnancy can affect your hormones and take time for your body to adjust afterwards.

@Peonies12 thank you for your reply. That’s reassuring to hear the symptoms of progesterone were the same regardless - I get myself down half way through the TWW feeling like I should be feeling something dramatically different at that point. That’s interesting to hear your GP said about it taking longer. I had a very unhelpful comment by the nurse when I was discharged from laparoscopy surgery as my mc was a suspected ectopic - she said lots of women get pregnant straight away after. When that wasn’t the case for us, yet again I felt that we were doing something wrong. It is exhausting waiting ❤️. I hope your following pregnancy went smoothly ❤️
