BBT?

Very new to the tracking process but after a few months of not being able to get the CB smiley face or the dark line on OPK cheap tests, I want to start tracking BBT. Anyone with some experience here like to share how to go about it? Frequency of testing and kit to use? I read that BBT is a sure fire way to tell you have actually ovulated?

I bought a cheap thermometer on Amazon (needs to be to 2 decimal places). Then each morning around 6am I take my temperature orally. I do this before having a drink or getting up. I make sure I have been asleep/in bed for at least 3hrs beforehand. Make sure to take your temp daily and try not to miss a day.

I use fertility friend to enter the temp each morning. I also add extra data such as cm and DTD. Once you have three consecutive high temps it will then predict when ovulation occured. (Usually it’s the day before the first high temp for me).

It’s worked well for me so far. I use lh tests too, but the bbt confirms ovulation happened.

Thank you, that is really helpful. Will buy a thermometer as don't currently have one. Sorry, I'm still not quite sure what temp I would be looking for to confirm ovulation? What if it changes throughout the day?

You only take it once first thing in the morning before you get out of bed or drink anything. It will vary each morning as well. Typically before ovulation it’s around a certain range, then after ovulation it rises by a certain amount. I’m being vague because everyone is different it’s not a specific value. You can search for certain ranges but I wouldn’t read in to that too much. Mine is typically 36.1-36.45 pre ovulation then 36.45-36.75. However I occasionally have a temp reading that’s outside of that too and that’s fine. Don’t read in to an individual value.

Try fertility friend for a month. It’s free. It usually adds in the crosshairs to pinpoint ovulation for me once I have had three consecutive days (6am) of elevated temps.

Thanks this is very interesting and I had no idea until reading another thread on here that it was possible to confirm ovulation
