Day 1-3 blood tests results - can anyone help

Hi there - I had a blood test on CD2 this month to start the ball rolling to see if me and DH have any reasons for taking a year so far ttc#2. I'm 35, DH is 37.

Today I received a letter from my GP that just says "this test needs to be repeated - please take the enclosed form to the hospital for another blood test".

On the enclosed form all it says is "fasting glucose" just scrawled in handwriting.

I can't call the GP or the blood test place at the hospital as they are closed today. Anyone know what this means!? And, can I just repeat the blood test on any day or have I got to wait for CD 1-3 again? Does "fasting glucose" mean I have to fast before the test.

V. confused.

xx

a fasting glucose test needs to be done after you have starved for normally 8 hours, I suggest you stop eating at midnight and have the test done as soon as the blood testing department opens. If there are no other tests requested on the form i don't know a reason it would need to be done at CD1-3.
hopes this helps

Thanks ever so much napa. No - there's nothing else requested on the form at all.

it is so typically careless of your GP not to tell you that you need to fast prior to getting your bloods done.

just like napa said, you cannot eat anything past midnight the night before your test. and of course no breakfast that day either.

not sure whether you need for it to be done on dy1-3. sorry!
